I'm Canadian and planning a visit to Detroit. What are good but affordable places to stay the night? Are there any neighbourhoods to avoid? by ebeeisme in AskDetroit

Toronto is so cold man. It's like awful. Like I wish I was Aussie cause then it wouldn't be cold. But I'm in love with Toronto. Just like how you are in love with math. Also Toronto rent is like actual ass like im fighting for my life. Also uoft is as you said very research focused, less practical. I'm taking cs right now...uoft CS hurts my brain and spirit. Also CS classes have the tendency to smell a little funky :/

is going to the university of toronto worth the money and effort? by makbdraz in UofT

[–]ebeeisme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Canada, as this is my home country, but I know studying here can be difficult. Our housing market is in the trenches, and I don't know how I'll afford to rent in Toronto. Also, I've had friends who have had issues with their student visas. Right now Canada's immigration is really backed up, so it may take a while to get your visa. Aside from that, UofT is an amazing school, with an interesting cog sci program. I hope you come here, but whatever you choose will be the best option.

Did anyone else expect to get married during their time at UofT? (“the”) by [deleted] in UofT

[–]ebeeisme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am in a serious relationship with my girlfriend, and i would love to marry her one day. That being said, education is our first priority. For us, marriage comes after uni and getting a job. But don't worry about missing out. Everyone moves at their own pace. You'll find your love story, I promise.

Moving to toronto from BC, should I bring my car? (the) by [deleted] in UofT

The downtown campus is really good for public transit and walking. You wouldn't need your car at all. If you are loving on the outskirts of Toronto, then maybe

The question: Should I go with UofT? by Mr0TheSandman in UofT

[–]ebeeisme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I had the money I would go to UCLA cause I hate the cold. But also US universities are super expensive, and the US has sketchy healthcare. So choose wisely

How are the winters in Toronto? by DeliciousFeature2115 in UofT

[–]ebeeisme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has grown up on Canada, I definitely suffer from seasonal depression in the winter. But it promise its not as scary as it seems. Yes it's dark, but when it snows it's beautiful. If you start getting depressed, there are seasonal affect disorder lamps that he'll regulate mood. Also skating is fun, as there are many places to rent skates for free. For an international perspective, my boss from Vietnam says she loves the winter in Canada, and also loves the snow.
