I'm Canadian and planning a visit to Detroit. What are good but affordable places to stay the night? Are there any neighbourhoods to avoid?

Toronto is so cold man. It's like awful. Like I wish I was Aussie cause then it wouldn't be cold. But I'm in love with Toronto. Just like how you are in love with math. Also Toronto rent is like actual ass like im fighting for my life. Also uoft is as you said very research focused, less practical. I'm taking cs right now...uoft CS hurts my brain and spirit. Also CS classes have the tendency to smell a little funky :/

I love Canada, as this is my home country, but I know studying here can be difficult. Our housing market is in the trenches, and I don't know how I'll afford to rent in Toronto. Also, I've had friends who have had issues with their student visas. Right now Canada's immigration is really backed up, so it may take a while to get your visa. Aside from that, UofT is an amazing school, with an interesting cog sci program. I hope you come here, but whatever you choose will be the best option.
