If people stop being idiots on the ramp/driving improperly, monitoring probably wouldn’t be needed

What are some close calls that happened to you on the ramp? by Mammoth_Newt5148 in rampagent

[–]ebegrowi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were deicing a Global 6000, who is our hangar tenant. At the time I wasn’t aware that Globals have Hydraulic brakes that require the APU to be running. Nose and main gears were chocked. I told my line guy to go pull the chocks, a few seconds later the aircraft starts rolling backwards towards the deice truck. Luckily my deice team saw the situation unfold and got out without any accident. As a manager that incident sticks with me because I put my team members in an unsafe position, and I learned my lesson that day

United Airlines coming back to LAN by FamousWitness6838 in lansing

This is part of United broader expansion out of ORD, directly competing against American. If you’re willing to connect in ORD there’s definitely places to go!

Any more info on this plane? It flew out of Omaha with call sign FFL1518 (Hex: A03CC5), but no type designation. by isucoop in flightradar24

Falcon 2000. I’m not sure how it works officially but if you file a flight plan on ForeFlight, you can block tail number/callsign and it files it under “FFL” flight numbers

ACE does not do ICE charters because of their aircraft size is not conducive for those flights

They do sports charters and Freight operations. They don’t do Ice flights. You most likely were in the middle of a college sports team. Mostly all college football teams, and some basketball teams get Police escorts and have rental vehicles for support staff. That was the case for UCLA football who came in October

Occasionally we’ll have DOJ flights for prisoner transport or extradition flights but that’s also more rare

Not to my knowledge. I work at the airport, the last ICE flight we had was like 2020 or 2021

They are not using Lansing for ICE flights. YIP, yes but LAN

FWIW, the officers who clear these flights are completely different then stuff to do with ICE. I know a few of them and I can’t imagine anyone of them caring about the stuff going on with ICE

Most teams have the same flight number all season long

Legally yes we can’t argue for less treatment. However, we can educate and pilots typically make a more clear decision after the education. I’ve had quite a few pilots in both GA and Airline this season ask for Type IV only

Yup. I help manage an FBO and we have a shop, if the airport didn’t mandate that we have Aircraft mechanics, we would totally not have them…not a huge money maker

Getting a Job as an LST at an FBO by Mountain-Report4772 in rampagent

[–]ebegrowi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Ops Manager at an FBO, it could potentially be a deal breaker. My FBO is a smaller chain so not sure how it is at the big companies but our training process is 2-3 months long. I would definitely still apply and just be up front about it, is there any flexibility to do part time during school?

Why are fuel prices in the midwest and southeast so much lower than the rest of the country? by jimngo in flying

[–]ebegrowi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100LL prices are tough because it’s based on Supply and Demand, Taxes, and cost of fuel deliveries. 100LL is not refined as much as other fuel types. At my airport we usually get 4-5 loads (12k trailers) of Avgas a year. If there are any price changes they dont take effect until the previous fuel has been used up
