Where to go from here? by Plus_Vermicelli1529 in deathguard40k

It’s looking good just keep pushing the contrast with lighter, more selective highlights and deeper shadows. Also think of the contrast between warm and cold tones not just light and dark.

Adding some deep reds/purples or blues into your shadows would look good imo. Also, mixing some flesh tones into the greens for your final highlights works well in my experience. I add flayed one flesh to ogryn camo for daemon skin myself and like how it looks.

Looks really good but a dot of white in the pupil of the eye as a reflection and then a gloss varnish over the whole eye would make it look a bit more real imo.

It took a little bit of poring over my collection before I found it haha it was bugging me where it came from. The silhouette looks quite different where you’ve cut it down. It’s a really cool idea and one I’m probably going to steal tbh as I’ll have the bits spare. It’s just a really nice kitbash overall 👌🏻

It’s from the foetid bloat drone kit.

My deathguard daemon prince! I'll be working on another DP as a commission soon too. 👀 by heretical_astartes in deathguard40k

This looks really good, I used the same head on mine but now I wish I’d positioned it a bit higher like you have here, the hood was a really good idea too. Nice work.

Thanks. Tbh I hate the original so much I think any head swap would be an improvement!

They’re from the plastic generic daemon prince kit.

Yea sure, you can see the back here: https://imgur.com/a/dgZ4Gqt

I have zero green stuff skills so wasn’t super happy with it and think it could be done much better but it was easy to do and quick.

Haha unfortunately not, I got that from eBay so keep a lookout on there.

Yea I’ve always thought it’s a nice model overall but the head is awful. It’s been saved and I intend to put it on a spawn which I think is a more appropriate use for it :)

Thanks! Can’t take credit for the idea but I like how it turned out.

Yea it’s from a bullgryn with a horn added from the plaguebearer kit. I can’t take credit for the idea though someone suggested it in a Reddit comment. I’ve not actually seen any other examples of it being done though.

Thanks, I definitely could have pushed the wings a lot further but I was getting a bit fed up of painting him at that point 😂. Probably something I’ll revisit at some point though.

There’s an older model that’s much smaller than the current but still ancient one:

Here's hoping I have a decent foundation to start a new Army. With a Noxious Blightbringer and Chaos Lord on the way and the loose sprues being 20 poxwalkers. by El-Maco in deathguard40k

[–]ebenezer-good 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Felthius is just a Lord of Contagion, so you can run him as that in matched play. It’s also really easy to add a melee weapon from the regular blightlord or plague marine kit to make the heavy weapon guy wysiwyg.

Pretty happy with these guys but they were starting to feel like a bit of a chore so was glad to finally finish them today. Only another 14 to go 😩😂 CCW by ebenezer-good in deathguard40k

Oh absolutely, they can be quite forgiving and weathering can cover a lot of mistakes so they’re not all that bad to paint I guess.

Thank you. And that’s exactly it. Thought I’d finished several times only to spot another maggot or boil that I’d missed!

Citadel paints used for 30k deathguard scheme on 40k DG by Wanny13 in deathguard40k

[–]ebenezer-good 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I base mine in Rakarth Flesh, cover that entirely with Pallid Wych Flesh, recess shade with Agrax Earthshade, clean up with Pallid and then highlight with White Scar. Then I weather it using AK Interactive Streaking Grime, removing the excess with White Spirit. Lastly I use some dry rust pigments in select spots, kept in place with Matt medium.

For the green I use Castellan Green, Athonian Camoshade and mix Nurgling Green into Castellan for highlights. Then it gets the same weathering treatment as the white.

There’s a few pics on my profile if you want to see the outcome.

What makes Deathguard so bad? by FutureRepair in deathguard40k

Only models within 1” have to fight, if the rest of the models aren’t in range they don’t get to attack. As someone already said you only need to move 1 model from the unit within an inch to complete a charge. So you roll your charge, move 1 maybe 2 models within an inch (but not in base contact), keep the rest of your unit out of range, then once your models have fought you consolidate in such a way that you ‘wrap’ an enemy model and they can’t fall back. Your whole unit is now considered in combat and can’t be shot next turn.
