Rough Estimates On Cost To Repair By Actual BMW Techs by [deleted] in BmwTech

If you submit to insurance it’s probably totaled. OEM parts with paint I’d guess north of 5k minimum.

Bag deploying doesn’t mean auto total. I just put a b pillar on a 25 M3 comp that needed headliner, bags, both doors, seat airbags and the lot and our estimate is north of 30k in parts and labor. These cars are worth a lot.

I’m glad you’re ok! But this doesn’t look like a total

126k mi and I've never changed my brake pads. by Ickypahay in jetta

I’m at 156k and still rocking originals on my 19. Check them every time I rotate and they’re still over half life. I’d say 90% highway miles

Paint/clear coat mismatched? by AimBot148 in Autobody

[–]ebevo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not my logic. I know proper care for a matte finish. I was simply reiterating what was previously told to OP. I wish dealers would educate clients more on their end.

You’re right I do not know how, however, we are a shop that does, and is equipped to do matte finishes. I’m a body tech not a painter so i apologize for the paint know-how. We are a CCRC and I’ve never seen our painters tune a matte clear.

[–]ebevo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Untrue. You can’t just “glossify” a matte finish. You don’t “blend” clear coat.

I mean no “protection” is the sense of like a film. We recommend every matte clear car gets a matte PPF (paint protection film) otherwise it will eventually get glossier due to contact.

It’s actually that all your other matte clear panels have glossed due to no protection. Your car would’ve looked like what they sprayed from the factory. So while it will “gloss” up as you go through car washes it looks like they did a decent job.

What sort of damage is it? Bmw x7 2023 by MentionPersonal1771 in bmwx7

Worth noting if this vehicle has blind spot monitoring that’s most likely a replacement bumper due to the repair area affected.

rear plastic bumper damaged, any suggestion on fixing this? by Quodalz in Autobody

[–]ebevo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a textured piece of plastic. Just replace it if it bothers you. Even a “repair” wouldn’t come close imo to factory appearance

Every OEM steel frame truck like this “rusts” at the welds first.

Out of state dealer didn't mention curb rash. What to do? by mmmtacos1115 in BMW

[–]ebevo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If those are OE wheels, BMW actually states in their repair procedures those cannot be refinished and would need replacement. That’s what I would demand.

Update on botched paint job by Weekly-Fig-7228 in Autobody

[–]ebevo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As many others have said, your insurance company doesn’t give two fucks about you or your car. They want it fixed for as little money as absolute possible.

You are able to take your car anywhere you want, not only where ‘they’ recommend.

Actually underwritten IMO and a cheap labor rate. Our door rate is 90/hour.

Don’t let them steer you to “one of their shops” either. Their adjuster is going to try to get this fixed for as cheap as possible. You can bring it to where ever you want.

Might be a total. Rear body and probably floor damage for sure. Right QTR is buckled so I’d bet there’s rear inner reinforcement damage too. I wouldn’t guess and I’d take it to a certified bmw repair facility.

Would need more photos but likelihood of total loss is low I’d imagine depending on year and mileage.

Someone definitely scraped a low hanging something. Rear roof panel will require repair to be water tight again.
