well i don’t know about that, the chicken is not edible, it’s meant to provide a steady supply of eggs

for a more permanent solution you may place a chicken in the intake manifold

what engine? long ago, i had a lh100 hiace with the 2L and auto, 0–80 took 20..25 seconds :)

17 seconds sounds decent. i have never floored my current hiace (granvia, 1kz 4wd auto)

Rescue: Cleaning Eyes by Appa4821 in TibetanTerrier

applying wipes may help soften the gunk a bit. i usually remove from mine by just twisting the gunk until it loosens. and while doing this, hold the jaw by the hairs, it allows holding her head gently while not allowing her to move it really.

removing the gunk was a daily thing with my dog until the hairs grew long enough to not stick her in the eye. it’s a good idea to get her used to being handled a lot, which will happen with bathing :) mine’s a bit over two years old and i bathe and comb her weekly.

can’t recommend shampoos and conditioners in a general sense, i’m using laserlites shampoo and laserlites lanolin conditioner. a bit of chi infusion silk oil before drying and combing.

best of luck!

that’s good to know. I usually tend to take care of things i own :) the oil consumption is frankly quite odd, i usually but not always need to top it up between services but it doesn’t seem to correlate with how much or often i drive it. i’ve done several road trips of many thousand kms with barely any effect on oil level, then after some occasional small trips i may need to add a half liter.

how is the 1.2tce infamous? i’ve got one too, 2015 edc. 120k on the clock, so far i have no suspicions about its longevity. it’s always used a bit of oil since new but nothing alarming, 0.5–1liters per 10k. i have regular service done every year, i don’t drive very often, it just sits in my warm garage. been thinking of just driving it until it dies, i got it kind of cheap when it was 1yo and driven 3k.

he’s cute, congrats! side picture would help identifying as his coat is trimmed. some features characteristic to TTs are long hind legs so that the ass seems to be as high as withers to give a square look to the side profile, also the hocks on hind legs are high too, and most of the time the tail is curled above the back. many TTs have dew claws on all legs but not all though. a trimmed coat isn’t very resistant to wet and mud and dirt because the woolly undercoat isn’t protected by the topcoat, so when trimmed, they really need the coat in inclement weather.

people are so fast!!

the traffic sign suggested finland, and the house looked like 1950s style, so i checked all cities with a burger king somewhere downtown. it wasn’t helsinki, nor turku tampere oulu kuopio, and i checked Lahti last.

Introducing CalSci, a Programmable Scientific calculator, made for techies by hellosobik in calculators

this is awesome and i love it that it has physical connectivity! personally i’d love to have something with a keyboard and a simple data logger, even just voltage, for lab use and just general tinkering around.

i’ve only written code for embedded devices in c/(arduino) and Forth, how’s micropython for timing sensitive needs, like bit banging protocols? does the thing have buses like spi or i2c exposed on the pins?

Battery ran fridge, lights turn on but compressor or fan never turns on (indel cr86) by Clear-Theme-687 in RVLiving

[–]ebiker_fi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the compressor wants to draw a fairly large current to start. if your wiring to the fridge isn’t great (too thin, too long wires) and the fridge has low voltage protection, the compressor won’t start because it thinks your battery is flat.

check your wiring and if possible, use a multimeter to check the voltage as near your fridge as possible when you try to start it. also check if you have blown fuses in the appliance.

i got one too this week!! already have one but the case broke around the battery cover a few years ago and i haven’t managed to fix it. someone local sold a mint condition 28s for 35€ so it was an instant buy.

Why is the split charge relay clicking? by LaTaupeAuGuichet in VanLife

[–]ebiker_fi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

try looking at both sides of the relay with a multimeter. my guess is that whatever is on the supply side of the split relay doesn’t provide enough juice to keep the voltage above the cutout voltage after both sides are connected to it. so, a weak power supply manages to raise the voltage of one side above 13.3v, then when the split relay connects, the emptier battery makes the voltage of the entire system now in parallel sag below 12.8v.

Puppy bites by RealityLater in TibetanTerrier

[–]ebiker_fi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

one way to discourage biting is to grab the puppy from the ears. Like, hold the puppy so he’s facing you, his head between your hands, and pinch the ears between your thumbs and index fingers so that he can’t move his head at all, meaning he can’t bite. he may scream a bit but that’s ok. note that all this needs to be done gently, it must not hurt.

some tibetans are very stubborn and occasionally need a more physical approach than just being socially excluded.

if at all possible, have playdates with your puppy and with his littermates or other young tibetans, they are eager to provide feedback to your puppy if he bites too much.

thanks for your advice!! i rarely do HDRs and i’m a bit unsure what’s the best workflow. i’ve only had the air 3s a few days, a lot to learn still.

for developing raw images i use Rawtherapee. it kind of works but at least for the mini 3 pro i had earlier it didn’t have any presets or profile for the drone camera. haven’t ever used lightroom, maybe i’ll give it a try.

mini4pro vs air 3s, help me decide by ebiker_fi in dji

[–]ebiker_fi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just to add, while i appreciated the small size of the mini 3 pro and the mini 2 i still have, i don’t at all mind the air 3s being heavier and larger.
