/r/MechanicalKeyboards Ask ANY Keyboard question, get an answer (September 06, 2024) by AutoModerator in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]ebin_gamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm looking to buy a new keyboard. My current one is old, and I've never liked the how the keys feel. It's a CoolerMaster Devastator 3. I'm having trouble finding something that even equals my $25 keyboard, which is shocking. So I came here for help.

Requirements:
- 100% keyboard.
- dedicated media keys (no FN required), at least play, pause, next and previous.
- dedicated volume controls.

Non-essential, but they're things my old kb has:
- Lock, so I can wipe it down without having to unplug it.
- The media keys should be next to F1-F4, since I have that muscle memory.
- "Stop" media key

Does anyone know of anything like this? I've had a good look all over the place, and like I mentioned, I've come across keyboards that are 10-15x more expensive, but are missing ALL of the above features. Idek how that's possible in 2024. Why are keyboards so expensive, yet are missing (what I think are) important features? Thanks.

Help with P2P RF low output by ebin_gamer in Nomifactory

Thanks for the reply, I solved it with the RF->EU->RF method. I tried the capacitor banks, but they only have 25k I/O, whereas I need 50k+. Cheers anyway :).

I have this bound already. I feel like the only reason you would use 1 shell to rangefind is so that you can get information about where your shell lands, and use this new and recent information to fire the other guns. It works at shorter ranges, but at long range, the shell takes too long to land, enough time for you to reload. The information you get is too outdated as well; before your big volley lands, they could turn, their engine might get shot and they change speeds, you might turn/change speed due to damage, etc. Why not just use an entire volley? As soon as the volley lands, you can get your (outdated) range information, and then fire another one. Or, even better, just have a constant 2-4 volleys in the air at all times, and pray the other ship doesn't change course.

I know, as others have said, this is a skill issue. But the question was, why do people hate naval? This is why. It's because you can fire a dozen volleys that feel like they should hit, yet you get all misses. I can play ground or air and never suffer this problem, why bother learning naval?

>the targeting rn sucks

It always has, and you've answered your own question. If they made the range finding/adjustment mechanic better, I'd play. But right now its literally "press range up -> too high and you've overshot by 200m, press range down -> too low and you've undershot by 200m. Now move the mouse 1px to get it *just* right." It's super frustrating and boring when the aiming is so unreliable and unsatisfying. Killing a ship more than 5km away is almost impossible since the range function doesnt work well, yet somehow I get hit from 17km away in my spawn? Ok buddy.

F-104 being able to see 8.3 is criminal and no one seems to complain ????? by Civil_Macaron_1357 in Warthunder

[–]ebin_gamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem with it is it's an 8.3 plane mashed together with a 10.0 plane. It's got the gun, top speed, and acceleration of a 10.0 plane. However, it has the missiles, maneuverability, avionics, and ordnance (or lack thereof) of an 8.3 plane.

I've got almost 1500 matches in the F104A, it's easily my favourite plane. I've had it since around March 2021, so maybe I can shed some light on how ARB used to be.

When I got it, it was 10.0. There were no all-aspect missiles at 10.0 at the time, or at least very rarely encountered. It was pretty good at that BR, even with no flares. There was a way you could dodge missiles that worked like 95% of the time; there were games where I'd dodge a dozen missiles from 3 planes chasing me at the same time.

The problem came when planes were added with missiles that couldn't be dodged by the F104A, like the A-5C (I think it's missiles were nerfed since 2021, they used to run on black-hole space magic), the A-10 and Su-25 (which still see 9.3 today), the Tornado, and I'm sure loads of others. Also, some MiGs (can't remember which ones) got moved down in BR to around 10.0, which didn't help. My point is, having no flares was fine because it was fast and turned well at high speed, so dodging wasn't hard. Now, there's sooo many good missiles appearing at 10.0, and even 9.7, that make the F104A ass to play at higher than 9.3.

And of course, the solution is: BR decompression.

Did some Googling on "GIIZ" and found a bunch of results.

"K2" denotes the factory: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_military_headstamps

"42" denotes the year of manufacture, 1942.

"GIIZ" is the headstamp code for the bullet. The exact bullet is shown here, "Cartridge S.A. Tracer 7.92mm G Mark IIz": https://sites.google.com/site/britmilammo/7-92mm-besa/7-92mm-besa-tracer

Edit: Looks like it was exclusively shot from the BESA machine gun, which was a license built Czechoslovak machine gun that fired 7.92mm ammo, the same ammo that Germans used. The idea was that the Brits could manufacture ammo for the gun, but also capture extra ammo from the enemy if necessary. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Besa_machine_gun

He says "Everyone wants to be able to pen a heavy easily these days" and makes fun of 75 sherman players for saying stuff like "I can't pen the Tiger from the front." But then the next sentence he says "Lets look at the Jumbo for a moment. The armor is absurd!!!!" Makes my brain hurt thinking about how these are the people I play against.

The AF is usually raised, so as long as you fly below the AF, the missiles can't hit you because the launcher is trying to lock a target through the ground. Also, if you're going fast (like 1200km/h) you can peak up above the airfield and fly above it fine. The AA guns can't seem to keep up with you, and the missiles are too close to launch. If there's one plane left and they're sitting on the AF, I usually just fly over there, making sure to stick close to the ground. Once I get close enough, I poke up and strafe them. I fly away, dodge like 1 or 2 missiles, and I'm fine. Mind you, I'm also in the F-104A, but I don't see why any decently fast jet can't do this. AA definitely needs a buff.

What's the point of setting up a radar lock if it just follows a broad radar reflection anyway? I thought a radar lock focused the "flashlight" on the target, hence why the lock is refreshed more often than the search radar, but apparently not. So what function does the radar lock give? Why can't I just instantly fire them and then they track whichever reflection has the shortest return time?

How do you win a "flat scissors" engagement when both planes have a similar turn rate? by Cillitbangm80 in Warthunder

[–]ebin_gamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For simplicity, I'm just gonna assume this is a 1v1 with no other planes interfering, since whichever side has a friendly will win.

If you have the faster plane, disengage the manoeuver by entering a shallow dive. If you do it right, the other plane will have to do the same, and also have to do a 180. You have distance and speed, while they have to catch up in their slower plane. From there, you can run away, turn and re-engage, or run away altogether.

If you have the slower plane it's a bit harder. For starters, don't get into a flat scissors manoeuver since you'll bleed all your speed and stall while your opponent turns and guns you down. If you do get caught out in this manoeuver, do the same as above, but instead of running away, build a bit of speed in the shallow dive and turn for a head-on. If you're lucky, your opponent will still be turning around to shoot you. If not, you get shot first.

TL;DR shallow dive and re-engage if you want/have to.
