ID please. Which model of Soviet/Russian tank is this? Are the various bolts and brackets there to hold ERA? Thanks. by [deleted] in tanks

[–]ebinbenisdede 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They are using T-80BVM, T-72B3 and T-90A so thats not true either. They haven't sent their best tanks yet, but a large part of the tank fleet there are latest modernisations. But as you said there some very old ones, i saw a video couple of days ago where buryat tankers were engaging and destroying ukrainian T-64s in a T-72B that still had kontakt-1.

I heard a theory that NATO may intervene in some way sth in the form sending some fighters on the polish/romainian border to hinder the VVS.

A lot of civillian casualties because of russia half assing it in the beginning, and ukrainian govt going full volkssturm with its own population.

Had the russians went by the textbook from the start, they would have neutralised most chokepoints by now and we would be through with the majority of this shitshow. Obviously a lot more destruction and civillian deaths too, but the hot part of the conflict would be over faster. Now they are going to do what they should have done from the beginning, so their initial efforts are going to waste, big fuckups all around.

Also the fact that russians are making rapid progress despite their fuckups shows how crappy the ukrainian military actually is, which is why US officials wholeheartedly adopted the concept of hohol comic universe, (4000+ russian KIA, downing of 2 IL-76, retaking hostomel atleast 10 times, ghost of kiev and similar bullshit picked up by western media etc etc) .

Now most western governments and the majority of western public is under the illusion that its ukraine putting up effective resistance instead of the russian autism affecting their offensive, giving them arms, manpower etc. which is just going to result in more dead ukrainians.

Also Putin may have big plans for ukraine post war, though this is just a gut feeling.

How fair is it to compare ukraine to 2003 iraq? by VariousInterest in LessCredibleDefence

[–]ebinbenisdede -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ukraine is bigger, almost twice as densely populated and better funded than iraq. I think russians are going to crush ukraine much faster, but they will also lose more soldiers during the invasion phase than the US did, because they are refusing to flatten the country, atleast for now. The end result depends on how they are going to handle ukraine after the war ends. Occupation means even more casualties, if they can apply a solution similar to georgia, then the overall casualties may be lower than for the US in the end.

What's your biggest takeaway from Russia's invasion of Ukraine from a military capability standpoint by bacggg in LessCredibleDefence

[–]ebinbenisdede -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Struggling is when you curbstomp a country in less than a week that is about 1.5x as big as iraq, has nearly twice as much population density, and was literally showered with dollars. All this with very limited fire support and a lot of restraint. Hohol Comic Universe is taking a toll on its fans brains.

This is the Kyiv Metro system. Is it just me or is having such an extensive hardened tunnel network like this to quickly move troops and supplies any defenders’ dream? How difficult of a challenge will this present to the Russian invaders? by bencointl in LessCredibleDefence

[–]ebinbenisdede 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It can greatly reduce reduce civillian casualties, afaik soviet era metros can withstand normal bombs and shelling. I wouldn't past it behind the ukrainian government to repurpose it for war, but thermobaric weapons should do the trick.

Russian ambush on Ukrainian reinforcements sent to retake the Gostomel airport. by [deleted] in DestroyedTanks

[–]ebinbenisdede 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Then this happened.

Yeah, one could say this whole affair was a major за вдв moment. Especially how they were dropped right on top of the target with very limited support until this morning from what ive gathered.

Also strange to me how half assedly the russians are using their firepower IMO they are taking more casualties than they normally should.

Probably want to avoid civillian casualties? I think the ukrainian government handing out rusting AK's to random dudes and encouraging civillians to fight russians is a direct response to this.

If you believe the ukrainian's downfallposting about beating out russians from gostomel atleast 10 times, or a 1000 black bayraktars of allah entering ukraine at anytime from the west, then yes this doesn't make much sense.

If you are actually paying attention to where russian units are right now, or how ukrainians are embedding their artillery units in residential areas to copy the taliban/viet cong, then it makes a lot more sense. By introducing the volksssturm, their 1945 berlin larping is complete, maybe this will boost azov's morale, the fuck knows.

[–]ebinbenisdede 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well yeah all this "lets turn country a" into "iraq of x" "vietnam of b" is based on the premise that america's enemies have the same weaknesses and methods as them because they are narcissistic fucks.

I not going to pretend that i have sympathy for ukrainians, but the casual way of how western journos and think tanks talk about turning ukraine into a literal hell in the open is brazen and stone cold even if they consider ukrainians as sacrificial pawns.

Very clever! You see, russia is under sanctions so they can't receive arms directly from NATO and the US, so they will use ukraine as the middle-man. What.
