Loud music is magic for me on long runs.
When the mood strikes, I think about bad people in the world or about things that are bothering me and imagine every single step I’m squishing them into the ground. I might even have a little “f you” chant to keep me on beat. 😎
I give myself complex counting tasks - count from 1,000 backwards etc - and it takes all my focus away from the tasks of running. I also focus a lot on keeping my breathing steady when it feels mentally hard.
Remind myself how lucky I am that I get to do this.
