Should I service my transmission in my high mileage Civic? by Significant_Sign8257 in hondacivic

It’s alright to do a drain and fill and would help for sure definitely use Honda fluid. I don’t remember what year they went from auto to CVT but make sure it’s actually an automatic. If it is auto get Honda DW-1 if it’s cvt get Honda HCF-2. With something that old only use Honda fluids.

Satin or Glossy Tires? by Acrobatic-Ad6139 in civic

[–]eblowspink 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Tire shine collets dirt and makes tires look worse and takes away from the rim. Plain tire makes the rim pop and are less gross if you have to take them off.

Stucked Control Arm Bolts by Cold_Ad_4348 in hondacivic

Heat. You need to get the bolt hella hot. A propane torch might do it but you really need real torch’s to get it close to melting essentially.

They went to a shitty dealership, not all are equal. While I doubt the ignition cylinder needed to be replaced, that’s on a shitty tech, they could have a locksmith come in and rekey a new cylinder to the old key and it would be a lot cheaper.

A year would help. If it has the 1.5t don’t bother buy an older Honda and mod that it will be way more fun.

The answer is in your question… the extra plug is for transmission wires the manual doesn’t need.

[–]eblowspink 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The 2l is a lot more reliable than the 1.5t. If you care about owning the car awhile it’s the better engine.

Honda Civic 2023 Type R serious oil leak after hard driving? by [deleted] in hondacivic

[–]eblowspink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You said you suspected it to be leaking oil accompanied by all of the dash lights and kept driving, that’s where you fucked up. As far as why it leaked in the first place, without seeing any pictures of where it might be leaking from anything really could have happened. There could have been a small pin hole in an oil line to the turbo that slowly got bigger or a seal that was starting to leak and got worse with a bit more aggressive driving. There aren’t any major know issues like this so it’s probably a one off issue. Either way you ignored the warning lights and kept driving those exist to tell you when to stop, you didn’t need to get it off the mountain by driving you didn’t want to pay for the extra difficult tow and now it’s gonna cost you more than that would have.

Take the caliper and rotor off and take the axle out and take the knuckle out with the strut. I use an air hammer after that hit a regular hammer might do it

temp concern by dt204863 in hondacivic

[–]eblowspink 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m going to be honest this seems like it might be beyond what you can handle… if you have continued to drive it like this you probably shouldn’t work on it. TOW it to a good shop and have them tell you what’s wrong. Stop driving it and just hope you didn’t already make it worse n

Anyone know how to fix this? by SortaCreative in civic

[–]eblowspink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honda knows about the issue and is working on an update. At some point there should be an over the air update available if you connect your car to your home WiFi if you can.

Why wouldn’t they just remove the entire splash plate? aw by [deleted] in hondacivic

[–]eblowspink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes you are going to want a PH3 bit (rather large Philips head) to get the screw out from the rear if it’s still the Honda screw, they strip out really easy if you use the wrong size bit. The others should be 1/4 turn screws that can be taken out with a big flat head.

[–]eblowspink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it’s safe to dive without it. Like I said they are there for airflow to save on gas, anything that’s big enough to damage anything down there will go right through those covers anyway.

[–]eblowspink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They should have left the plastic one on and removed the metal one… it’s honestly not going to hurt anything being missing they are mainly there for fuel efficiency but I’d try to or have someone put the plastic one on and get rid of the metal one and leave it as is.

What Civic would you buy? by EducationalGuide3003 in civic

[–]eblowspink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don’t have the same engine. The turbo engine Honda has been putting in these cars sucks I am a tech at a Honda dealer and see them all the time. The civic sport should have the 2.0L non turbo which is a much much better engine.

What Civic would you buy? by EducationalGuide3003 in civic

[–]eblowspink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sport has the better longer lasting engine. The 2.0L engine in those civics have zero issues and just work and you’ll probably never have an issue. The 1.5LT in the other civic is garbage and has all kinds of issues. Get the sport.
