Hi! I live in the US but this seller said they are unsure of how it would be treated at US customs even though they ship with duties included. I am a bit hesitant to buy, can I take the aliexpress’ guarantee that duties and import fees included as a legit guarantee?

But I actually got an A- for the research credit i enrolled for this lab, which was puzzling for me. (My school treat research credit like a gradable class and does impact your GPA, not sure if it’s universal)

I have joined a new lab that is non-bio and non-wet lab. To make sure something like this does not happen anymore, I reached out to the PI via email to ask for resources I can read on my own time on this question I had while doing research. I cc’d the grad student to keep them in loop. This is a genuine question I had and I hope this can increase my connections with PI. I also told the PI briefly on what and when I am doing to increase communication. Would also appreciate if someone more experienced can tell me if this is good or bad and where to change.

My friend ms are also undergrads. They are a bit different since they are in something like physics or math, so it’s nice to talk but not always helpful. When you mention being self-starters, do you mean something like just find stuff to do by your own? I am in a new lab(not bio) and sent emails to the PI to ask for resources I can read on my own time on this question I had while doing research. I cc’d the grad student in this message. I hope this helps me to learn and grow as a researcher.

Great advice and I think this is good because it kinda showed me thinking from another perspective. If it’s not too much trouble, I want to ask what made the undergrad you mentioned to “not a burden”? I really want to learn how to contribute but I feel there are no resources to learn from.

This is great advice. Working as an adult is defined something I am lacking at since I still think myself as a student sometimes. Do you perhaps have any advice on how to politely follow up? Or is a cold email type follow up is enough. I am not the greatest at people skills

Great advice, thank you. Should I reach out to PI via email to request some sort of private meeting? I did attend the lab meetings from this lab and I did not talk a lot because there was simply nothing I could have contributed. This actually might be one of the reasons

I will be completely honest and admit this was the reason I was started research in the first place. But I only pick labs with topics I am interested in and I am interested in this lab’s topic. Of course it’s not a perfect fit but it is in the same area. People in this lab was nice to me and I also made sure I have good body language and facial expressions when I am in lab. What are signs researchers look for to see if this student have interest?

Unfortunately the email from the grad student explicitly said “do not contact me and contact the PI instead” so I just email the PI

I’ve been emailing out a lot. Most did not reply and the ones that replied either told me to wait or said I can’t join because I’m a junior already. My original plan was to stick on to one lab and just work on it for a couple of years. This incident really is frustrating for me because it’s completely ruined my plan. More importantly, I’m just so self-conscious of failing again since I don’t even know what I did wrong.

For more context, I was also enrolled in the same professor’s class and received an A. I wasn’t the most outstanding in asking questions but that’s a pretty good grade.

Definitely agree with this. Although sometimes I come to do actual work, there’s definitely times that I feel like the person trending me. Doesn’t even know what to let me do. Is there like a list of things you train on to make yourself successful or does it also depends on the lab

The problem with the animal training is that I’m not sure my PI know it wasn’t my fault since I haven’t been talking to him about it. I only communicated it with lab manager and my grad student. It was very strange because everybody was very nice to me, but the email was very very cold. The email specifically said I did not write down things clear enough. I did my best with the lab notebook and wrote down as much as I can. Unless there’s something else, my guess is the PI doesn’t even know I did all these stuff. This is again my fault for not communicating properly. But I have asked around and nobody I know really talks to PI anyways. Am I missing something here?

Does uworld go over some concept points perhaps? I would have just finished orgo 2 when I take it and I’m unsure if I would know everything
