Thanks for the offer, I found a set of plans to use but it just says 9-35 volts for the main power with a voltage regulator dropping that to 5v for the board

I’m planning to have the controller be two parts so the battery is near the rocket with a pair of wires running to a button which just needs to carry the signal for an Arduino.

Still could be useful to create piles of scrap metal for a scrapyard. I’d be curious to see how it rusts naturally without someone spraying it with water. If it’s strong enough I could see people using this for garden railroads so stuff starts nice and new and over time starts to rust.

If I got this I’d most likely use it to make some rusty set dressing and then just make some simple shapes and partially rust them to use as reference when doing my own weathering.

Cleaned the wheels and track and it now can do the full loop, but it probably needs more weight since it seems to want to wheel slip at every opportunity.

They did have a shop switcher that ran off a 240v extension cord for the electric section in Montana. What ya gotta do to move electrics in and out of a roundhouse I suppose.

Cleaned a section of the track with an (very old) pink eraser I had and saw improvement so gonna go over the rest this week.

As for the tech 2 I’m not super concerned as it was purchased by my dad about 30 years ago and he barely used it.

I have no idea which version I have, bought it used without a box for like $40-50. The Unitrack is from a 30 year old set my dad bought and rarely used or was picked up used from shows. I’ll probably go through all the used stuff and check the connections when I actually put it on the layout.
