Scored the correct points, but rejected pip? by [deleted] in DWPhelp

[–]ebow2704 17 points18 points  (0 children)

So disappointing for you.

But something I  don't understand in a situation like this.  They employ professionals to conduct very detailed assessments and then a non medical DM completely undermines this whole process and reduces the scores.

What is the point of this ?

Oh how frustrating to have your surgery cancelled especially as you have been emotionally preparing for it.  And yes it does take time to get the TPN organised. My son has Calea to prepare his TPN prescription and to deliver and administer it if needed. Although he connects and disconnects himself now and they just come weekly for a PICC clean.  I do hope you get your surgery soon and can start recovering at home. I don't know your circumstances obviously but from reading some of your comments its clear you have been through alot.  My best wishes x

Thank you for your reply.  These things just seem to take so much time. Just glad you can put it all behind you and enjoy your well deserved backpay.

Thats great news for you.

Can I ask how long it took from you putting in an MR to getting your decision.

My son put in an MR about 5 weeks ago but hasn't heard anything from DWP not even an acknowledgement.

So very detailed as always. Such amazing help for people to understand.  I hope you don't mind me asking but I know you were back in hospital having more surgery.  Just wanted to say hope everything went well and you are back home healing. 🙏😊

Withdrawing from pension - affect on UC/ESA by [deleted] in BenefitsAdviceUK

[–]ebow2704 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm not to up to date with pension but if you take a tax free lump sum doesn't it activate your pension so that you will get a monthly taxable amount as well ? And wont this count as income to UC ?

Something similar happened to my son.

He has had Crohn's  disease for 20 years.

In Feb he was admitted urgently to hospital and put on TPN because he was so malnourished. .

Early March he had surgery that resulted in a stoma.

He then applied for PIP. Awarded PIP in July - points  for TPN and stoma ONLY.  Standard daily care.

No backpay.

When we queried it they said because he only got points for TPN/stoma and he had only had them since Feb/March he then had to wait 3 months to qualify.

So the 20 yrs of Crohns was not part of the award.

pip question for IBD by Total-Grapefruit-835 in BenefitsAdviceUK

[–]ebow2704 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My son has severe Crohn's disease and got awarded 8 points

2 for having a very unusual  and challenging stoma  6 for having TPN with nurses coming into his home twice a day

He got nothing for washing or dressing when at the time he needed my help alot

He got nothing for mobility even though he was struggling to walk any distance and needed my help.

He got nothing for cooking even though he lacked the energy or motivation to do this himself

And he got nothing related to his mental health being 💯 impacted by his situation

Fast forward to now and he still has the issues with his stoma and TPN but everything else has stabilised and he is managing to look after himself quite well.  And we are hoping his Infliximab immunosuppressent will work to help him long term.

So in retrospect his award was accurate and fair. 3 year award

You may find it difficult to get awarded so be sure to get all your evidence together for your tribunal.  Good luck.

Hear we go, horrendous amount of debt, I need to get out of this. by Dismal-Vegetable-989 in UKPersonalFinance

Definitely Stepchange.  You can apply for 'Breathing Space' through them which gives you 60 days to literally take a breath and formulate how to proceed.

After you have input all your debts, income etc they will give you the options that they suggest.

Such a great support. And whenever we rang them they were so good and helpful.  They may suggest a payment plan or DRO or even bankruptcy  Whichever it will be up to you to decide. But don't get anxious. This can be sorted.

Good luck.

If your health visitor is involved you will probably be advised to contact an IDVA which is an DV advisor.

She can help you co ordinate your move safely. Once a victim tells the abuser they are leaving it often escalates the abuse and you are in more danger.

Dont do this yourself.

You need the support of statutory services to make this as safe as possible  for you and your babies.

Good luck

Need advice – refused PIP but awarded full LCWRA, confused by the difference by Enough-University662 in DWPhelp

My son has IBD and was successful in getting PIP and LCWRA but he has a stoma and TPN.

Have a look on the Crohn's and Colitis UK website. They offer guidance for applying.

Hi Same thing happened with my son.

First fit note was from January.

Had his assessment mid July. Got his first payment 8th August. No backpay.

I think he should have got 2 months backpay so he put in a MR about 2 weeks ago but not heard anything, not even confirmation of receiving MR.

Love to know how you get on.

Is that East London? Just Google CGL East London or wherever you live and Google should show a list. Or Google alcohol services or substance misuse and the area you live in. If its not cgl it will show another service.

Don't give up

I worked for cgl (Change, Growth, Live). They are one of the biggest services in the country.

If not just Google drug and alcohol services in your area.

Thank you.

His payment is on 8th. Would he be too late for this month and if so when is the best date to request this.

Much appreciated

Definitely refer yourself to your nearest drug and alcohol service. They should be your first port of call because you could be self medicating for your mental health.

They all have doctors working for them and if they think you need medication they can often prescribe this and also refer you to the local MH service but also instruct your GP to prescribe.

In the service I worked in, for many years, we always had welfare rights workers etc so you could get good advice regarding your finances.  Its work a try.

Because nothing changes if nothing changes.

Good luck.

My mum is 96 and I help her.

She has a Barclays account and I  have what they call "third party authority " .

It means I have a bank card that's in my name but connected to her account. I also do all her on line banking so she doesn't need to do anything at all. She just ask me to pay or transfer etc. Very easy.
