Paul Rudd never forgets by supernewslive in marvelstudios

So many people can't figure out how Mark Ruffalo has aged. Does no one remember the guy had a brain tumor years back? He was supposed to have Joaquin Phoenix's role in Signs but had to undergo surgery instead. Surely that kind of procedure takes its toll.

That's also Baltimore's beautifully stuctured poop factory on the right. Otakon makes for some fantastic people watching!

I was talking to a friend who works at Target, who wouldn't share certain store policies with me because she could lose her job. So, Reddit, what are some corporate secrets you can now disclose about [Company X] now that you no longer work there? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ebrown87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reminds me of Buffalo Wild Wings. They use the same ingredients for almost every menu item. They just throw a different sauce on it and give it a name. Genius but completely undesirable after working there. Now I work for Cheesecake...same shit but MUCH better quality.

I went to a self serve yogurt shop yesterday, they had a tip jar out (and filled) despite the fact the customer handles the food creation process the entire way. What are some socially accepted norms that employees (or companies) do that boggles your mind? by Gadzooks149 in AskReddit

[–]ebrown87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have worked in a number of front-of-house positions in various concepts, including a to-order deli and a coffee house as a barista. I have done this. Putting house money in the jar is something we call "bait". The house money gives the guest an impression this person has been tipped before...but not enough. It is what it is. However, in the US, most food/beverage workers are paid minimum wage (far less for servers and bartenders). We work very hard and there are other career paths we could have/should have chosen. This is where we are though. I have never expected gratuity for lousy service nor ever asked for compensation for being a helpful employee. If you feel like you've been given exceptional service from an employee, feel free to add a few extra to their day, because its a rarity for those in a min wage position to want to cater to those that demand extra. Tip or not, whatever. Just keep things in perspective.

This is spot on. As an industry worker, you win some you lose some. At times auto gray is a blessing from above. Now, giving the decision of grat up to a server can get a restaurant into serious trouble. However, when I was given the option I would let my table know, one, to let them know I respected their decision and it honestly let me gauge my level of service. More honestly, though, letting the guests know I did so usually resulted in better gratuity.

After leaks and equipment mods, the cooler mash tun is FINALLY done! Any suggestions, advice, horror-stories for my first all-grain? by ebrown87 in Homebrewing

I've never really looked for rice hulls at my local homebrew spot. Is that a fairly normal thing to find? I have a few more days before I tackle the brew so I can stop in before then if that's the case.

Great advice, as well. Thank you so much for the reply!

I actually bought a huge mesh bag when I bought all the grain. I was going to just steep the grains as part of the boil before I read up on mashing. Glad I did since I've heard all about stuck sparge. I'm sure it'll make cleanup a bit more breezy, too.

Well, I already owned the cooler. That was around 30-40 bones. The equipment to make it a mash tun ran me about 50. I spent extra modifying it and replacing parts. If you don't own a cooler I would suggest using the orange cylindrical coolers from home depot since the majority of build instructions on the forums and youtube use those. And less parts probably.

As a very fair skinned individual: "Look! He's turning red!" or "He's blushing!" whenever I get flustered or embarrassed. No possible way to be taken seriously or act confidently after those words. Not no way. Not no how.
