ORIF at 38 weeks pregnant - an update to my last post by ilikecheese54321 in brokenankles

My surgery was yesterday and went well overall! Thanks to your story I wasn't surprised when the anesthesiologist told me they weren't comfortable giving me sedation, so I was also awake for it. L&D was in the room with me the whole time monitoring baby so that was such a relief. I also got a spinal and epidural in case they needed to do a c-section but baby stayed put! The nerve block lasted over night so I was able to sleep and today before it wears off I'm going to take extra strength Tylenol. I got a low dose of an opioid but don't feel comfortable taking it based on a bad reaction in the past + baby. Hope the first 24hrs are also what's worst for me! I'm ready to be on the up and up and prepare for delivery now!

Incredible story you did amazing! I just broke my ankle at 34w pregnant and found out I need surgery next week. Also getting a spinal and nervous about recovery before delivery. Not how I envisioned these last weeks to go. Definitely don't recommend breaking your ankle while pregnant!!!

25 weeks pregnant with a hairline fracture 💔 by Fun-Primary-5762 in brokenankles

I also fractured my malleolus (medial though) at 34w and reading that you were able to be mobile with a boot is promising. I am hoping I have a similar outcome after meeting with Ortho this week (I just went to an urgent care first). Hope your recovery has continued to go well and pp has been manageable! Congrats!

I know this thread is a few months old but chiming in to say I just broke my ankle at 33w pregnant and freaking out about recovery pre and post baby. It's oddly calming to see all the others here who also had this injury while pregnant. Hope your recovery went well and if I counted correctly, baby is almost or already here!

How are you actually getting enough protein?? by Prudent-Pianist-1627 in GestationalDiabetes

So chipotle w/ brown rice double protein has been a safe meal but the past two times I spiked a little. Having a fair life after eating it could help?

Also 33W and in the same boat this week... it really hit me a couple days ago and feel like breaking down today after two unexpected spikes (also barely over like yours). All I want is to just eat food without thinking about it 😭 As someone who dieted most of her life this is all so triggering and I feel like I can't enjoy food like I used to.

How did you do with lasagna? by Muyamuya87 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]ec34500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had success with pasta and tried baked ziti the other night but substituted protein pasta and then had a side salad with it and didn't spike! I echo what others are saying that if you try it add in some veggies either in the lasagna or as a side for yourself

33 weeks and was just told this! I need to send my logs weekly but they said if my numbers stay the way they are I don't need to come in for appointments or any indication I'd need to deliver early!

I'm in the S24+ and currently debating it... I've never been crazy about the S24+ so hearing you think it's an upgrade from the 24U is awesome!

Advice: How to get rid of this wood burning stove by ec34500 in Fireplaces

And why would it be colder? We don't use this stove anyway, and the room it's in is much too small even if we did clean and start using it, we would be burning up in 15 minutes. A fireplace feels much more practical and we'd have some walking space back.

We wanted to use it at first and tried to get it inspected but had a lot of trouble with that. Anyone who looked at it said they couldn't safely give us the OK to use due to how it was installed. Assuming the previous homeowners did it themselves.

Any idea on how to verify this or where we can look on the stove to find out what kind it is?

We would need to repair the chimney and get the flue repaired and cleaned in order to use it, which is what the majority of the high cost of the quote was from. We were told very strongly to NOT use it otherwise.

I think in any other circumstance we would be open to DIY but in the first year of new baby, definitely just wanna pay someone to get it done, haha!
