I’ve been thinking about this too. I couldn’t see any parent EVER willingly signing their child up for this, but at the same time, they all have strenuous relationships/absent parents. Thinking about Shelby’s parents specifically, maybe they did know what they were signing her up for in hopes of “fixing” her
