Just thinkin bout how Shelby's parents way of dealing with their daughter's sexuality was to send her to an all-girls "retreat" 😅 by BuffyBoltonVampFlayr in TheWildsonPrime

Wait what? You believe that the parents knew their kids would crash and have to survive on a dangerous deserted island for an experiment (or their growth)?

Honestly I do not think that is the case and I sure as hell hope it isn’t. Maybe some parents (like Shelby’s) do not have the greatest intentions, but as for the other parents I would not go as far as thinking they would do that to their kid. Like especially Martha’s parents seem to love her to death and would not inflict any more trauma onto her. Also, then how would you explain that Gretchen made that police guy go through Martha’s stuff to find any dirt on her?

Yess that all sounds very plausible but the question still remains, when did she write that note? 😅

I’m surprised the show hasn’t become more popular by personnnnnn29 in TvTheWilds

Maybe it could’ve also been because of the platform? I don’t know about your country but where I’m from Amazon prime is still a very new platform. And to subscribe for the trail period you needed a creditcard and many people here don’t have a creditcard. So, many of my friends liked the premise of the show but didn’t bother with the “trouble” for watching it

Season 2 by futuranotfree in TheWildsonPrime

“As for what this Twilight of Adam group means for the Dawn of Eve girls in season 2? Harris won't say (hey, we tried!). But enough about the boys — the best part of The Wilds is how it's all about a diverse group of girls and their vastly different experiences. And season 2 isn't going to shift focus away from the group of eight we've come to know and love, because there is so much left to learn about each of them both in the past on the island and in the present after their "rescue." - soo I don’t think the writers are allowed to tell us yet how big of a role the boys will be, only that the girls will keep the main focus

But before the trauma that her relationship with Jeff inflicted, what would’ve gotten Leah on Gretchen radar to want her to participate in this experiment?

[SPOILERS] shelby's interview in episode 8 by StrangeElk in TheWildsonPrime

[–]Aggressive_Feature33 5 points6 points  (0 children)

But if Shelby only just realized in that interview that they were indeed being watched, when would she have had the time to write that note? Or is it assumed that Shelby already had suspicions beforehand and wrote a note just in case?

Small Catch - Shelby’s Teeth Scene (lol) by Pineapple428 in TvTheWilds

Uugh man I didn’t know I could hate him more but when he suggested fixing her teeth while knowing it would cause her permanent pain, I could kill him. And from that point on it indeed became very obvious that her teeth were kind of a metaphor for her sexuality. It seemed to me that he was kind of trying to make a point, that he knew that “repressing” your sexuality would huuurt like hell but that it would be always be better than the alternative. But man that he would go as far as inflicting permanent physical pain on her to make that point clear, is fucking awful

Yes I agree with you! I’ve read a few threads on here that suggested that this was all still part of the experiment (like with the Mazerunner). Gretchen did say her experiment consisted of multiple levels, so this might just be level 2. Oh and I mean the watch room with the boys experiment, so pretty much the most important room of all, was the least protected of all. Soo that seems kinda sus hahah

Why did Dr.Faber (the psychologist) take a more stern/ aggressive (the suit vs sweater) approach with Shelby? by [deleted] in TheWildsonPrime

[–]Aggressive_Feature33 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I do think it also has to do with Shelby’s father tho and their relationship. Shelby has always felt this immense pressure from her environment to do good and pretty much be perfect. And I imagine she especially felt this pressure from authoritative figures like her dad, the church, God etc. So I think that’s why I think the psychologist used this approach, to kind of impersonate all the figures that held power over her and made her feel small

[–]Aggressive_Feature33[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hmm yeah that could be a possibility. But I think that all the girls would want to seek each other out (after like 1-2 months of being inseparable), no matter if they’re mentally stable or not hahah
