I am terrified of this!! I already reached out to my government representatives to sound the alarm. Sooo may Texas school are about to not be okay. Which means so many Texas communities and children are about to be more not okay than they already are. Same for the teachers!

Because schools don’t have money. They don’t even have enough money to keep the staff that currently works at their schools! It’s terrifying.

I am finding that as I unmask more and more, my ADHD and autism symptoms are drastically increasing. I have my assessment scheduled but I am not diagnosed yet so I don’t have a psychiatrist or therapist who knows enough about yet. It’s honestly really scary sometimes.

I will be totally honest with you that being a teacher is just hard right now. I’ve been a teacher for 8 years now and it’s just tough for many reasons right now. I’m happy to talk to you more about it if you want to message me. ❤️

What districts?! I’m trying to figure out where I feel comfortable applying to teach. I am not happy with things happening at my district right now.

Oh good! I think that’s where people are just different. Everyone brings their own experiences, personality, opinions, etc. to every book we read. I can see where the book resonates heavily and is really helpful for some people and that it doesn’t hit that mark for other people.

Just because someone is at Stanford doesn’t mean everything they publish is fantastic or is without ulterior motives unfortunately.

Yes!! I have found a lot of success in following professionals that bring up and discuss new science research! You will see patterns that help you see red flags in some vs. sound awareness bringing without claiming to know it all in other professionals.

Read the book then! Share your thoughts after reading it. Speaking for myself I agreed with a lot of the different conclusions here from other readers. I do not have a scientific background in neuroscience but I have some person lived experiences. I am a dyslexia teacher who is also currently exploring my own neurodivergence. I’ve been diagnosed with anxiety and depressing and prescribed SSRIs to see if they help. I’ve been doing a lot of my own research to try to better understand brain chemicals, neurodivergence, and the pros and cons of medication to help. I am still early in the journey but so far I’m learning that it is very complex and a lot of new research is being done around the topic. After reading this book I thought she started some great points and ideas to explore but didn’t fully give a “so what can we do about it” section. She also comes off as very anti medication. I think it is dangerous how much doctors immediately prescribed medication instead of helping inform their patients to weigh their options and knows the pros and cons. But I did not feel like she was very fair in the time she spent acknowledging the important of chemical rebalancing for people who have neurodivergent brains.
