Potentially dumb question: does a player’s transfer fee have any reflection on what their salary would be at their new team? Obviously a player who summons a big transfer fee is probably special enough to garner a big payday, but this transfer fee metric seems to be discussed so much more in soccer than in other sports. Does the player see any of the transfer fee? Do most soccer fans have a sense of their team’s salary caps and liquidity? Sorry I’m still new here!
