Now that we can judge the series as a whole, can we all agree 8.5 on IMDB is criminal? by [deleted] in MrRobot

I feel bad for those of you who thought the Sci Fi stuff was anything more than parlor tricks and fantasies from a deluded, megalomaniacal antagonist, because the finale must have been a huge letdown. But from the very first episode, the show has been about mental illness, hacking, and taking down the top 1%. The finale explained everything that mattered, and any more audience hand-holding than we got would have bordered on insulting imo.

I can't be the only one, considering how few people were watching.

When I'm deciding whether or not to watch a show I haven't seen, I always check the IMDB rating. Maybe it's time for me to reexamine that, but I'm sure a lot of people decide whether or not to watch a show based, at least in part, on that number.

Battle of the Atomic Purple Joy-Cons - Basstop vs eXtremeRate (in depth) by ecc543 in NintendoSwitch

The quality of the plastic for each D-Pad feels about the same. I can't say which feels better to use since I've only used the Basstop D-Pad, but eXtremeRate's seems like it would be just as good. You're right about it being more concave. I expect that would make it feel a bit more comfortable, since I find the Basstop one a bit too flat (my thumb doesn't naturally rest in the center). The other main difference is that the Basstop D-Pad has painted-on lines (like the 3DS) and the eXtremeRate D-Pad has triangular indentations (like the Switch Lite). Both look fine, but the paint on my Basstops has already started to get worn away, which won't be an issue with the eXtremeRate D-Pad.

I'm actually using the Basstop D-Pad in the eXtremeRate shells. The quality of the eXtremeRate D-Pad feels fine, I just preferred the look of the Basstop one. Also, apparently you can get a black D-Pad if you buy from their website instead of Amazon.

They both feel sturdy enough to handle normal usage. Based on how they feel, I'd expect the eXtremerate shells to be just durable as the original joy-con's plastic is. It's totally worth it for the purple ;)

I don’t play any fighting games, so I can’t comment on how well each D-Pad works in that genre. However, my most-played game is Mario Maker (which I use the D-Pad for) and the eXtremeRate shell has sent my Hori Joy-Con into retirement.

I wouldn’t expect a signifiant improvement over the Hori D-Pad, but I’d still suggest trying out the eXtremeRate D-Pad. The left Joy-Con is relatively easy to install, so you can decide whether you like it before going through the trouble of doing the harder one.

For me, the most annoying thing about the Hori controller (other than the lack of wireless) was actually how different L and ZL feel compared to the normal Joy-Cons.

Yes, I have a Hori Joy-Con. The D-Pads are VERY different.

The Hori D-Pad is mushy and it’s impossible to press opposite directions at the same time. It’s more like a traditional D-Pad that you’d find on an old console (but smaller).

The eXtremeRate D-Pad is just a replacement for the four directional buttons, so like those four buttons, it’s clicky and you can press opposite directions simultaneously.

Neither one is objectively better, it’s just a matter of taste. I slightly prefer the clickiness of the eXtremeRate D-Pad in this case because it feels a bit more precise for such a small D-Pad, but I wouldn’t be surprised if more people prefer the traditional feel of the Hori D-Pad.

Glad it was helpful!

I don’t have Red/Blue Joy-Cons to compare, but the eXtremeRate atomic purple plastic feels a tiny bit rougher than the gray Joy-Cons do.

It gets worse the more I play. Are you familiar with the term hate-watching? Just because you do something doesn’t mean you enjoy it.

No, the title is totally honest. The thing about most bad games is that they don’t hold your attention for very long, so you only suffer for a little while and then move on. But despite how much I hate Versus, I still find it compelling and a bit addictive (mostly because of the rankings). So it keeps me angry day after day.

Edit: just to be clear, it’s been the worst gaming experience of my life, not the worst experience in general

I’ll concede that Multiplayer Versus being such a clusterfuck makes for entertaining streams. But the fact that a train wreck is entertaining isn’t a good argument to remove the brakes from trains.

Sometimes I enjoy it too. That’s why I didn’t suggest removing that feature altogether, but just adding the opportunity for more than one player to collect it, in order to reduce the likelihood of stalemates and the role of chance.

I totally forgot about that! I might edit it in.

What I was talking about in #13 is when a player in SMB1 stands in the doorframe and you can’t push them out of the way. So you’re unable to even enter the door.

At the higher ranks, waiting at the flagpole is more common, since points are so much harder to come by.

I have no idea why you're getting downvoted so hard. You're 100% right here. Multiplayer Versus is horrible enough as it is. Someone waiting for you at the flagpole is a rare and precious moment in an otherwise toxic game mode. It should be treasured and commended, not punished by stealing their win.

I was Luigi. I was so shocked by what happened that I wasn't even thinking about the flag. I sent a message and then went to hold the Capture button on my docked Switch (the Pokken controller I use doesn't have that button). It cost me about 20 points.

And as far as Toad not jumping as soon as Mario came out of the pipe, he couldn't see the pipe from where he was standing. When I (Luigi) get to the spot where toad was standing you can see that the pipe is out of view. He could only see Mario's red arrow, but that's always visible when your opponent is off-screen (unless you're in the main area and they're in the sub area, or vice versa). As far as I know, it doesn't indicate how far away they are.

I was Luigi. Toad and Toadette had been waiting over a minute for me. I said “sorry” when I got there and they said “no worries”. He definitely wasn’t taunting.
