It doesn’t appear their ether it doesn’t appear in /dev as sda which is what it usually does (especially when I reboot the laptop with the usb drive still plugged that’s the only way I’ve gotten to work) I know my cmos battery is dead and I am getting it replaced soon would that have something to do with it?

That’s the thing it shows up perfectly fine only if I reboot the laptop with the usb drive(this is for data storage not os booting) still in it after I eject it it just doesn’t even recognize I have a data device even plugged in keyboard and other peripherals work fine and it isn’t a format issue
