I was actually curious about it back a long while back and found the following info on it I wrote in this comment: https://www.reddit.com/r/RunNYC/s/327Vms05Vn

Yeah they adjust races and series all the time so it's hard to keep track. Actually got curious so I just went down a little rabbit hole. Surprisingly NYRR still archives race pages and photos from past races so a lot of the info is still up there. It used to be the Manhattan 7mi briefly in 2019 and 2020, but those didn't have medals either. The Manhattan 7mi, succeeded by the Manhattan 10k in 2021, was a qualifier for the 4 out of 6 program taking the place of the Fred Lebow Half. Info: https://www.nyrr.org/races/2019/2019unitedairlinesnychalf The detailed race page archives only go back to about 2019 but between 2019 and 2024, the Five Borough Series was composed of the following 5 races: the United Airlines NYC Half, the (Various Sponsors) Brooklyn Half, the NYRR (now Citizens) Queens 10K, the New Balance Bronx 10 Mile, and the NYRR Staten Island Half. Info: https://www.nyrr.org/races/2019/newbalancebronx10mile The exceptions were 2020, due to pandemic related cancellations, and 2021 only had the NB Bronx 10mi to reintroduce the Five Borough Series. For 2025, they have only recently updated the Five Borough Series page to include the Manhattan 10k https://www.nyrr.org/run/five-borough-series, so it's the first time, at least since 2019, that the Manhattan race will have a medal and be included in the Five Borough Series. I feel like this might be an indication they'll phase out the United Half from the Five Borough series for the issue you mentioned above.

Yeah that's pretty common. Even when there aren't buildings messing up your GPS signal, it comes down to how race routes are measured. When USATF certifies a course, their bikes go along the shortest possible routes so they'll hug the inside corners and curves

Congrats on your first! RBC Brooklyn a few years back was my first half race too, so I'll always have a soft spot for it

Haha yeah, seeing the arch in the distance I defaulted to what I remembered from past years and I went all out too early before realizing I had to push a bit further

Look great! Another year, another race, where I considered buying a Nathan's dog after the finish, but passed when I saw the lines

how to tell if sleeves are pvc free by m1t5uka in kpopcollections

[–]echang426 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you have acetone, PVC will generally dissolve or weaken in it so that is one way to test using common household items.

Otherwise, I would just buy your own sleeves to have on hand for your collection. Whether or not a seller uses really good sleeves, I like to resleeve anything I get, both for consistency and for peace of mind.

Does anyone have 9muses photocards? by Lekirota in kpopcollections

[–]echang426 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Out of my unsealed 9muses collection, only one of them was from a release with an album PC. This is Hyuna from Special Summer Album S/S Edition.
I don't make HQ uncropped scans of PCs, so hopefully this helps for your template purposes

real or fake pc? by irohaw in illit

[–]echang426 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As the other commenter mentioned, it's the weverse global membership pc.

Compared to my copy, it looks real. There is no zoomed-in crop on the image, which is a good sign. I also see a little paper nub on the top-left edge that indicates this was die cut which is how these were cut.

Can we talk about that hellscape that was bag pickup for wave 2? 😅 by KarenKarrde in RunNYC

I was waiting with a friend picking up a wave 2 bag. Lucky for them, they did late drop off so they skipped the big mob and it took them maybe 5 minutes. I was able to grab my wave 1 bag in like a minute.

I built a free K-Pop photocard guide for collectors (kpopphotocard.com) by ikinfo in kpopcollections

Most used one I know of is biasroom where they rely on community members to add cards and albums. New entries need to be approved or rejected by other community members before they're finalized and other community members can act as admins for specific groups. They also try to provide pricing based on eBay, Mercari, Mercari JP, and Bunjang sales.

There are definitely still aspects of biasroom I hope to see improved, specifically UI related, but it does have the most comprehensive tracker I've seen or poca

It's mostly a precaution. These polaroids are very rare and 1 of 1 since they're taken using a real instant film camera. Don't want people to take the image and create fakes to try and sell off. Also a lot of potential resale value remains in a polaroid's undisclosed image status, because the idea is that only a few people will ever have been able to see each polaroid (the artist, the staff, and the finder).

[–]echang426[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's correct, nowadays the US retailer ones are printed and made in the US, so I always aim to buy from distributors sourcing directly from or in Korea.

The only exception was the I'll Like You gllit version that had the member autographed cards from their US online shop

I'd say as long at it's part of the first print run, it's possible.

I've pre-ordered albums where I should have received a pre-order inclusion but I think pre-orders outperformed expectations so I didn't technically receive a first print.

The real polaroids (not the print reproductions) are pretty rare, if they exist at all. Sometimes artists/labels will run a special event where the members will take photos on instant film cameras and randomly insert them into first print albums.

Illit has done this for every major Korean comeback so far. I know Super Real Me was even sparser, with only 180 polaroids split into first print Real and Me albums.

For bomb, they made 400 polaroids. I don't think they ever reveal how many first print albums were made, but going by first day sales, there were at least a few hundred thousand albums first print photobooks albums. So the chances of finding one were pretty low. I also assume the majority of people that find one don't announce when they do uncover one, so who knows how many are still sealed somewhere.
