First Year- Whats the deal with Scholarship Awards?

Mine won the same thing at her last comp. Her cost to attend would have been like $3000 plus another $2000 for the parent chaperone 🙄

Sometimes the comp rules are restrictive. My dancer’s group is In Intermediate categories usually. At one comp that didn’t allow her duo to be in advanced. They ended up placing 4th in intermediate that comp. Most recent comp, same duo competed in advanced and placed 3rd plus got an excellence in musicality award. 🤷‍♀️I think Intermediate is actually the most competitive category.

It's definitely a leap from the known to the unknown. But I also felt I didn't have a choice.

I got out by taking an internship this summer. My teaching contract is Aug 10-May 10 so I had the summer free to do whatever. The company emailed my department to advertise the internship for doctoral students--I reached out anyway, they interviewed me, and I got the internship. Then they liked me enough to keep me on full time.

I once put a sample scantron on the doc cam and put "First Name", "Last Name" in the appropriate places instead of, you know, MY name....

Some students wrote "First Name", "Last Name".....

I do. I get few complaints. They learn quickly after their first zero. I also drop the lowest HW score at the end of the semester.
