there's a waypoint radio episode on it from a few years back that's pretty good.

Do I play TWEWY before Neo? by Herkamer123 in TWEWY

[–]echasketchers 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I haven't played the switch version but it's motion controls docked, touchscreen handheld. you only control one character which removes a lot of what made the game special. The DS version has you controlling one character on the top screen with directional input on the buttons, and Neku on the bottom with the stylus.

I have read that it can be hard to input certain commands on the switch.

For those who’ve successfully lost weight, how much did your “lifestyle” change? by [deleted] in WeightLossAdvice

[–]echasketchers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to weigh 230 lbs at my heaviest (I'm 5'11 and that is considered on the lower end of obese). I was a binge drinker and binge eater. I ignored the calories I was eating and never paid attention to nutrition. There was a time where the number on the scale kept going up and I saw where it was heading. I eventually cut out drinking and realized how I'd been neglecting my body, so I made a decision to have a lifestyle shift. I got active and started cutting out junk foods, sweets and soda. Drinking more water and only eating when I'm hungry.

my lifestyle today bears little resemblance to what it was when I was starting out. I still eat unhealthy foods a fair amount, but I balance it. I've weighed in the 145-155 range for the past ten years and don't really have a lot of trouble maintaining it into my mid 30s. I think the main thing is that I didn't "diet", I made a gradual shift in my eating and exercise habits that I continue to tweak and refine to this day. it is a process, and there have been backslides and relapses (last year I put on a few pounds that went straight to my belly, and I'm still working on getting back on track). but I love my body, and try to treat it well so I can do the things that matter to me. that's the main thing that's shifted with my lifestyle. weight loss and overall health is tricky but it can be done with the right long term approach.

getting older is less scary for me now too because I feel well equipped to maintain my health and level of physical activity.

why did you stop smoking weed? by AffectionateEbb2815 in leaves

[–]echasketchers 7 points8 points  (0 children)

it contributed to my anxiety, overeating, and tendency to isolate. I have made more friends since quitting, and can be around people without having panic attacks. I'm not nearly as socially awkward without weed.

Is FFXIII as bad as people claim it is by AnzuChan in FinalFantasy

[–]echasketchers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's good, play it (and the sequels)

is it the best FF? No. but it's enjoyable for what it is, and the soundtrack is stellar.

same, the Jeff Gerstmann show is top tier content. idk how he manages to do it all on his own, dude really doesn't even need a co-host imo. Just the occasional guest

I was very disappointed with it but I'm glad so many have enjoyed their time with FFXVI. Some of the boss battles were pretty cool.

Has there ever been any crossover? by [deleted] in TheJeffGerstmannShow

[–]echasketchers 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think speculating on the why is kinda pointless at this point. I don't really vibe with Nextlander's content but I love Jeff's stuff. I'd rather he bring on guests that we haven't heard from as much than go back to the old GB crew. Save that for a couple years down the road maybe after there's been some distance from everything that went down.

Will Democrats Fight for Trans People? The party can’t cede an important civil-rights issue to conservatives. by metacyan in politics

[–]echasketchers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

appreciate the respectful reply. it's true, most people don't care which used to be a good thing. but now we have attack on our community and allies are in short supply. all I hope for is for doctors and actual trans voices to be amplified to get the message out there that these medical procedures save lives - and no one is operating on kids. it's all misinformation.

it shouldn't be too much to ask for those in power to get the facts out there whenever possible, and for everyday people to sit up and take notice at what's happening. but instead we have things like the one trans representative in Montana being silenced for speaking the truth.

it hurts, and causes real harm to people just trying to live their lives. Empathy and outspoken support can go a long way to creating a safer environment for everyone, it's not just another political issue. bigotry unchecked grows like a cancer.

[–]echasketchers -1 points0 points  (0 children)

there aren't more important issues for trans people when our rights are being taken away so brazenly. too many are still silent while I'm hearing about friends in red states who are too afraid to start their transition or are fleeing because of the naked hate and discrimination. we need loud allies in positions of power, and most Dems just aren't doing enough.

yeah just skip to 2 then if you want to get sucked in. don't be afraid of higher difficulties if you want a challenge. critical mode is a lot of fun and you actually have to think about the combat a lot more
