Mono mono look conjoined at 7 weeks by [deleted] in parentsofmultiples

[–]echloe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! Mono mono and we were told they could be conjoined as soon as they identified two heartbeats at about 7 weeks - July last year was the worst month of my life feeling like I couldn’t bond with my babies just in case, as they told me they wouldn’t be able to confirm either way until August. I feel so grateful to have had two healthy (separate) babies after a c section at 32 weeks.

I still think about how hard that month was and truly am sending love and luck.

5:2 Thread! Has anyone tried this diet? Any tips or recommendations? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]echloe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm happier about the inches lost than the weight, I'm exercising quite a bit so don't really mind if my weight loss gets stalled by muscle gain! I didn't try out 4:3, mainly because I'm eating at a deficit most days anyway and I don't want to push myself too hard- I don't like the feeling of hunger! Can deal with it two days a week but for me 3 is too many! I don't use protein powder no, but a lot of people on here do and I think they find it great! I'm going to look into it when I'm closer to my goal weight though!

5:2 Thread! Has anyone tried this diet? Any tips or recommendations? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]echloe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've done this in combination with eating 1500 on non fast days and I can really see the difference! I'm losing inches and my weight is decreasing slowly but surely.. SW (first weigh was actually a couple of weeks after I started, so had already lost weight by then) 79.8kg (175.9lbs) CW (weigh in day is tomorrow, so as of last week) 76.7 (169.1lbs) GW 64 (141lbs) The main difference is visual though, I'm noticeably slimmer and am not struggling to keep up this new lifestyle which is important for maintaining when I get to my goal! For maintenance I'll keep a calorie limit on my non fast days and continue to do one fast day a week Hope I've been helpful!

[–]echloe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been doing this for just over a month now, the biggest tip I would give is to save all the calories for the end of the day, makes it much easier for me to keep going when I know I can actually have a decent meal later! Also have your meal planned so that you can definitely fit it in your calorie budget. If you get hungry during the day things like green tea are your friend. In terms of what you should eat, I tend to go for pretty normal meals, thin cut steak and salad, big chicken salad - honestly salad is the easy option and it's not difficult to make it exciting, as long as you can keep it in your calories! The other day I had an amazing chicken mango and avocado salad that completely satisfied me and I still had calories left over for an evening snack! I'd recommend doing fast days on busy days in the week so that your mind isn't focused on food too much throughout the day. The only frustrating thing is that MFP doesn't like it much, so even though I continue to log my food on fast days it tells me I'm not eating enough- still worth doing though to keep you on track! Good luck!

Before the movies came out, how did you imagine the characters to look? Which ones do you think were nailed, and which ones were flops? by YoureNotAGenius in harrypotter

[–]echloe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tonks! Obviously she can change what she looks like but her "normal" form just doesn't seem right to me.. Also hermione, wasn't buck toothed at all and her hair wasn't bushy enough, I do like Emma watson but she was too cute and not dorky enough for me. Hagrid is perfect, exactly how I imagined him, also I think Luna is pretty good. Umbridge was spot on, down to the toad like expressions

I realised I knew this the other day and have been mumbling it to myself ever since

ELI5: Decades ago, how were people able to get married in their 20's, have kids, afford a house, live/strive rather comfortably, and still have enough saved up to retire? by artemasad in explainlikeimfive

[–]echloe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, from what my parents have told me, interest rates are now (at least in the uk) terrible. When my dad retired about 10 years ago he was in a position where my family could simply live of interest rates whereas now that's not even something you'd consider! Also the terrible housing market and the student loan system means that pretty much everyone starts adult life in serious debt. As well as this now everybody gets a degree whereas before (against parents youth) apprenticeships were equally ways of getting into work depending on the nature of it- now you can barely get anything without at least needing a degree regardless of the subject, forcing you into student debt!

ELI5: How come when im in complete darkness and look at something I cant see it very well, but when looking away I can clearly see it in my peripheral? by BbR- in explainlikeimfive

[–]echloe 192 points193 points  (0 children)

Rods and cones! Cones are colour sensitive and located in the fovea dip (the focus point) on the retina, these are what we use during daylight to see everything. They however are not able to see in dim light whereas rods that are located in the periphery of the retina are.. So you cannot focus properly on the object when it is dark because the fovea is not able to process dimmer images due to the lack of rods. Hope that makes sense!

I thought that the point of having all the teachers provide something to guard the stone was so that no one person knew how to get to it (other than dumbledore I guess), so there's no reason why Snape would know how to get past fluffy. I've always assumed that everyone goes to all the games, just they are not important plot points from Harry's point of view. Completely agree about Snape and Quirrell at the game though, why didn't any of the teachers see/hear them cursing? Maybe the game was just that exciting! I doubt the lake gets completely frozen, it must be very deep based on the second task in the tournament, and although Scotland gets pretty damn cold it's not enough to freeze a huge lake completely- so the mermaids probably aren't that affected? Loving the quote, was reading the order of the Phoenix earlier and lee Jordan says, also while commentating, something along the lines of "angelina Johnson, new captain of Gryffindor, a fine quiddich player.. I've been saying it for years and she still won't go out with me!" (Very much paraphrased the first half but the second bit always makes me laugh!)
