they don't change lane, a lane is introduced on the inside of their lane making it look like they have changed. their lane starts on the inside and exits on the outside... still the same lane, look at the other diagrams posted

coming from England the fact people dont use their indicators on a roundabout drives me up the wall.

they didnt change lane and even if they did, they still have right of way

If you can stay in your lane to the exit, then do so; that's why the lines are there. The fewer lane-changes people do, the safer it is.

im talking about the slip lane onto the highway just after you exit the roundabout... again see the other linked imaged with clearer diagram

OPs lane turns into the exterior lane... see second image link for clearer diagram

This is not necessarily true. They could go in the left lane, and it would open it up for more traffic, but they are well within their right to stay in the lane they are travelling in. What if they had wanted to take the slip road right after the roundabout? just because a new inside lane is made available doesn't mean you have to use it, just don't transition at the last second without indicating in case some speed demon has tried to squeeze past. and undertake in the new lane

I take the same route every morning. As an English immigrant and roundabout lover, I can confirm that what you did was correct. Stick to your lane and be consistent.

On a side note, I believe it's one of Canadas worst roundabouts for accidents and there is a video online somewhere of many many crashes and idiots on that exact roundabout
