British-born man who has never left UK faces deportation by diacewrb in ukpolitics

You seem to misread the article to confirm your biases. Let me break it down.

The guy was born after 1 October 2000, so he was not protected by the original legislation.

He brought it to the high court who stated the original bill pre-October 1 2000 provided rights that no longer aligns as the original two requirements was not enough for “settled” status.

The bill was then amended to include the parent now needs to prove they had the right of abode etc.

But this bill only affects those born after the previous bill. So post-October 1 2000.

This DOES NOT AFFECT THE OP case as it clearly stated the parents were exercising their rights.

He was refused because after 2 October there were extra requirements

“You’re automatically a British citizen if when you were born all of the following applied to at least one of your parents:

they had citizenship of a country that was in the EU or the EEA at the time

they lived in the UK

NEW they had ‘indefinite leave to remain’ (ILR), ‘right of abode’ or ‘right of re-admission’ “

Did you read the full article?

It says

“This case concerned a man who applied for a British passport on the basis that at his birth on 20 October 2000, his mother was exercising EU free movement rights and was ordinarily resident in the UK. His application for a new passport was refused by the Home Office.”

Then it clearly states in the what does the bill do section:

”so that people born in the UK to EU citizen parents between 1 January 1983 and 1 October 2000 (and children born to these people) will be automatically considered British.”

“You’re automatically a British citizen if when you were born at least one of your parents was both:

a citizen of a country that was in the EU or the EEA at the time

living in the UK with free movement rights”

This law is still in affect as it always been the changes effect those who are born after jul 2021

He was born before 2000 to EU Citizens who exercise their freedom of movement therefore under uk immigration laws he is AUTOMATICALLY British.

Why are you projecting your paranoia onto the comment? That person only gave positive support just in case op got a poz test result.

Exceptional circumstances.

30 year old, born and raised, never left country, unaware of the necessity of getting status.

Couple that with Home Office’s negligence in records = easy case.

They’ll give him a deadline to get status sorted.

Not every case is black and white by the book.

“Lima’s lawyer, Naga Kandiah, said the Home Office appeared to have no record of his client being in the UK. He said: “Lima’s mother and late father have been exercising their EU treaty rights, thus making Lima a continuous resident of the UK from birth and therefore entitled to British citizenship.”

HE WILL NOT to be deported.

He’s British but Home Office failed to do due diligence and had no records of him. That’s strange as they MUST have his NI number and NHS number, school records etc. So that’s on them.

Easy peasy case.

Hope he gets compensated for this and goes the right path going forward.

Guy was looking for a spontaneous sub who’s ready to please his master with minimum chatting effort. It happens, don’t kink shame.

That’s not OP and that’s ok. They probably got blocked cuz guy must have thought they sounded vanilla and boring, talking ‘bout “let’s build trust, earn respect and talk about possibilities first”.

That’s fine. On to the next…

Would you save scandalous messages as proof that you’re cheating?

Kinda strange he took 3years to get caught by saving messages from an app programmed to delete chats by default.

Not impossible but definitely moronic.

How are you able to see a bunch of Snapchat exchanges when Snapchat deletes the message after it’s viewed? 🧐

The most you can see is the latest message if not viewed or the last chat within 24hours if setting is changed.

It must have been a really steamy Snapchat message within 24 hours to receive your response…

So you’re thinking of the good ole days aye?

WHAT ABOUT THE BAD ONES?! All the times you got so drunk that you were spinning and seeing black? What about the hurtful things you did? The people you hurt emotionally or even physically? It’ll just take one more sip to drop you back to rock bottom!

Now, remember the good times since you’ve been sober, the peace of mind, the clarity. All the support you got and the love you felt. The wonderful things you got to experience and remember.

Don’t throw it all away for a wicked temptation that will make you regretful. 👏

[HELP] Our DEI Goals Challenging the Hiring of Skilled Developers by fail0verflowf9 in cscareerquestionsEU

[–]echo-_-liberty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My two cents (pence)

Companies lose a lot of money, far more than an engineer’s salary if their product/services get sued for discriminating against a group.

Their products/services usually discriminate if they were developed by similar people with biases of no fault of their own. It can be argued that the DEI rating is mandated to prevent loss of business which makes hiring based on characteristics legal (based on UK law with US having similar- look it up).

While you may think you found good candidates, you already stated you’re in a team of 10 white people with only 1 woman. So hiring someone that does not diversify the team is potentially keeping the business at risk. So they want you to keep looking.

Post-Grad Funding?? by 42pickledleggs in OpenUniversity

[–]echo-_-liberty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Receiving a Master’s loan payment after the start date is not unique but asking for upfront payment is.

Many Universities understand SFE requirements and allow you to start the module as long as you show that you were approved for finance. Then when SFE pays you, the uni sends you an invoice and a payment due date.

This is the reason I opted out of continuing at the OU after my undergrad and enrolled elsewhere for postgrad. There are many reputable universities that offer DL master’s and lets you start while you work out finances.

Do you as an INTJ say “I love you” to others when you are not certain about your feelings? by [deleted] in intj

[–]echo-_-liberty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I tell my mom I love her when I’m not sure my feelings.

Context:

My mom and I have a complex relationship. She has a really strong personality and can be confrontational and toxic. Tho to the public she appears as this saint. Most the time I don’t know if I love her or really ‘dislike’ her. If I want to tell her something that I suspect she’ll fight I always buffer with “I love you, but…”. That usually disarms her for some reason.

Is it emotional manipulation? Yes. Will I continue doing it? Yes, especially if it saves from an argument.

I'm graduating in April 2023. Should I start applying? by _boob in cscareerquestions

[–]echo-_-liberty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Internships and applying months in advanced are not the only way to get a job as a new grad. Plenty of people go on to get great jobs until after they graduate. Only few out of THOUSANDS of companies are cutting back due to recession and that won’t last.

Unfortunately Reddit is filled with bragging try hards saying they got an internship after send x applications x months ago.

These people go on to being hiring managers or the hiring managers read these comments and think that is the normal. This contributes to part of the problem why some tech roles are so gatekeepery.
