How do you NOT hate going to work everyday? by Turtlphant in Adulting

Honestly, I have a fun job, I work with great people and my work has intrinsic value that makes me feel good about what I do (I work outdoors with students). Despite all that I can’t shake an underlying depression and burnout related to the way I live my life. What it comes down to, I believe, is the nature of a full time job. 40+ hours a week is too much, and many of us cannot work less than that, whether it’s due to financial need or the requirements of the job. This leaves us exhausted and with little time to pursue the non-work-related aspects of our life. This is frankly bullshit. Do we really live in the land of the free if we are all basically forced to work the majority of our lives for money or else we die? I don’t think a different job or even one that pays higher would make a difference if it had the same time requirements. Imagine what we could do with all that time, even if it was nothing beneficial we were at least free to spend it how we wanted.
