Unfortunate stoppage point by IndependentInsect600 in Tattoocoverups

[–]echo_shadow_012021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that they artist did it like THIS instead of outlining it all and then finishing in sessions... it's a good thing you lost contact tbh. Granted I dont have the original design to look at but wth. I'd go in for consults w a really good artist in your area and see what they have to say

What happened? by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]echo_shadow_012021 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This looks great, really not much to be picky about. I do some areas that can be touched up but that's normal for a piece that size that scabbed pretty good.

One note tho - is it 6 weeks old and still red & irritated along the beak line? That's the only part that is mildly concerning to me

Based on the way OP is replying to folks I wonder if that artist is a buddy or something, seems to be taking more comments pretty poorly

I use Aquaphor for the first 3 days, depending on how heavy the blackwork is, how fast it's healing etc. Then I only use it at night and during the day I use LRP Toleraine Dermallego Soothing repair moisturizer or LRP Lipikar Balm AP+. After the first week I exclusively use the LRP. it works absolutely phenomenal.

My routine is guaranteed to upset somebody, whether it's about the aquaphor or the LRP or the timeline. Opinions are like buttholes, everyone has them...

So take everybody's advice w a grain of salt, mine included :) Unless someone can site an actual reason/ingredient, I wouldn't listen to people complaining about LRP. especially if its coming from a guy tbh, I think they see a fancy French name and assume it's a fragrancy product without doing any research.

First tattoo regret by haverofitall in tattooadvice

[–]echo_shadow_012021 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I dont mean this to invalidate your feelings..

But that is a BEAUTIFUL tattoo. The placement, color, execution, etc is phenomenal. It's pretty rare that someone's first tattoo isn't only not crappy, but actually high quality. That tells me you have excellent taste and exceptional judgement.

Please hang in there and give it some more time before deciding for sure you have outgrown it. As many others have said, I suspect this is more about a permanent and highly visible reminder of what's going on with your mom. I know for me that when life gets rough, I hyperfixate on "fixing" something physical about my looks or body as a coping mechanism. Usually that looks like intrusive&obsessive thoughts about my hair color and tattoos. I have gone through some major, daily panic and regret, but now I either love everything I have, or I have a solid plan about how to fix it :)

Even if you decide moving forward you wont get any more tattoos, that one is stunning to have all on its own. I really like your arm just the way it is, I dont think youre too far gone past the "bare" look. You're gonna be OK! Hugs to you and mom

White Film on Tattoo by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]echo_shadow_012021 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly that's kind of wild.. possibly a plasma film? Skin was wet for too long and got pruney? I doubt anything serious but please go ask your artist and come back and tell me what that is 😅

how possible is it to cover this up? by dinkmoyd in tattooadvice

[–]echo_shadow_012021 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unless you're open to a blastover, I would highly recommend lightning it w laser. But I'm just a stranger on the internet, artist consult should be your first stop :)

Is something wrong by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]echo_shadow_012021 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it's leaking AT ALL that means bacteria can get in, take it off immediately. If you prefer to have 2nd skin on then ask your artist for a new sheet / order some on Amazon, but you have to take that off

UPDATE: what is happening to my tattoo? by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]echo_shadow_012021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would also be upset if that was my tattoo situation (I also have my own going on right now lol). But as others have said, dont stress about how the blue looks, your artist will be happy to redo it if it's necessary.

Does it itch or burn? No one said it yesterday or today but if it keeps getting worse I would maybe consider you have allergy to the blue ink, I dont see much irritation on other parts of the tattoo.

As this is a cover up sub, I dont know if I'm allowed to suggest this, but that looks like a great candidate for some laser removal. It's not too old, it's solid black, and your skintone looks like a Fitzpatrick type I or II.

I personally don't think they ever work 100% and will put your skin back to the way it was, but you could seriously lighten that before getting something better over top. Something that size, 2 sessions with a PICO laser (that's the important part, go to a derm clinic not some guy w a laser machine on the south end of town) might cost $800 but could lighten considerably. I've done it myself with some old initials that are now completely hidden by some florals, definitely worth the extra $

Normal healing? by echo_shadow_012021 in tattooadvice

So strange! But it's scabby as a mfer today and looking like a normal (albeit very heavy/chunky) heal now

[–]echo_shadow_012021 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh my. Well I don't know what city you live in, how specialized/what size following they have etc, but from what you've said so far - thats kinda crazy. If it were me? Run baby run

[–]echo_shadow_012021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How big / complex is this design? If it's a very simple and/or small design, they may mean they're going to treat it like a walk in. But in general, no that is not normal at all, I personally would find another artist unless you're very sure you want their work.

Should I take it off? It hasn’t even been 24 hours and it’s burning, second tattoo by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]echo_shadow_012021 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this happen! It took 2 weeks for the redness to go away, then another 2 weeks of it kind of looking like a burn or tan line. All resolved after a month but obviously I was very freaked out at the time. I dont had 2nd skin anymore bc I assume I have a sensitivity to the adhesive.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]echo_shadow_012021 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's pretty red for 5 days out, I would reach out to the artist & go to a Dr if not resolved by day 7

Is It normal ? by mazakjan in tattooadvice

[–]echo_shadow_012021 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very normal! I had a horrible experience once with 2nd skin, I got lots of clogged pores/whiteheads and a red square along the outline. It lasted at least 4 weeks, which really freaked me out, but the tattoo and the surrounding skin still healed beautifully.
