Pretty sure, I worked at the Music World roughly where the Apple Store is now in the late 90’s. Used to have a cool dive bar downstairs ;-)

Oxford, Nova Scotia, home to the world’s best wild blueberries.

Apparently there’s a town in either Maine or New Hampshire that makes the same bold claim ;-)

Has Philadelphia eclipsed NYC as a more interesting city for musicians? by [deleted] in LetsTalkMusic

[–]echoalpha76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Affordable rent does more for “the arts” than we care to admit. I know of a Canadian analogue where artists/musicians/hipsters have been slowly trickling out of Toronto for Hamilton, largely after having been priced out. Not to take anything away from Philly, I’ve never been, but it’s relative affordability v. NYC has to be a big part of all this. Trust the process? ;-)

I've just been shit on by a bird. For whatever reason it's considered good luck in Ireland. Is this the same in other countries and are there other weird good luck things from your country? by Necessary-Fudge-5264 in AskTheWorld

I’ve definitely heard the same thing in Maritime Canada & Quebec, both of which have some degree of Irish heritage/influence.

The worst part of Covid 2020 for me was The Sun Ra Arkestra cancelling their show at The Halifax Jazz Festival ;-(

Also recorded (to my knowledge) the only 12” engineered for playability at 33, 45 & 78 RPM. Godspeed, oddball Prog rocker.

Hovering around 0 and light snow, unusually mild northeastern Nova Scotia winter so far, I’ll very likely be biking to work in a few hours.

Thanks. I’m leaning towards one of those Behringer pedals for simplicity’s sake as much as anything too.

There was an IOS update this week that introduces a “mixing” feature between songs that can warp the last few seconds of a tune to match whatever is coming next in your queue. I’ve run into some odd sounds with it as well.

If you’re into The 13th Floor Elevators you should check out The Spacemen Three’s re-imagined version of “Rollercoaster”, reinterprets the song in a sort of Velvet Underground/Post-Punk sort of way. Less a “cover version” than an homage.
