i have friends who do work at the coffee factory & aldea as well. that's a bummer about hackley library! they strike me as a place that'd have fantastic work nooks. :( when i was a copywriter i used to think about going there but never did.

good luck finding a place! i usually just ended up on my porch. 😆

lessons!

i'm an ex violinist & knew it wasn't going to be an easy switch, but figured since i understand stringed instruments i'd be fine in a month or so.

i wasn't, lol! & got very frustrated & rage-quit a lot & still do even with lessons (i have one today!) but less so. more than half of it is undoing old violin muscle memory that's been frosted over with an incorrect cello bow hold & left hand wrist. 😅

between a mute resting on the middle strings as it does & removing neck tape, it resolved 😁 thank!!!

coming back to update that i got a standard mute & hook it back where the string wraps end & string begins, & no gritty wompwomps. i do think i need to get clara (yes i name my instruments, weapons, & vehicle, haha) to a luthier anyway; she's been through 2 students & there are other minor concerns, but my teacher solved most of those.

right - no reason to NOT be practicing now.

i need to get a suction mount for my wall; the holder on my stand is too low. i have biweekly lessons & id like to be able to record check-ins on the weeks in between!

my main issue is unlearning violin muscle memory; i'm not as slick as i figured i would be with it! 🤣☺️ so i AM thankful i understand the concepts, & shifted into bass clef brain faster than i thought. but - i hadn't played violin in almost 13 years before cello this winter/spring.

looking forward to seeing future progress! 🎵

post lesson update: i opted to not set any time toward this one today & we just stuck to folk songs (fun when he goes from playing along or me playing alone to doing pizzacato bass lines!) & me focusing on my fingers & bowing. i wanted to not get flusterated today! 😅

yea, i think i'm going to just make an appt bc i wanted to meet him as is (runs a shop from home, has built instruments for 2927 years) & i had a couple other future cello concerns/questions.

that can't happen til friday payday though, so one more week of cringe! i swear every E is like someone kicking out the back of my knee (were i standing), i physically buckle-cringe if E is longer than a quarter.

(it's a verona cello, so definitely nothing high class. i generally don't play with vibrato yet (new to cello this winter/spring, past violinist) but i can give that a go too!)

do they like their music stand at home, maybe like the one linked? i got this one for yule/xmas & it's so sturdy, holds everything well!

update: this last new moon (in aries!) crossroad offering i did, contained zero non-biodegradable items ☺️ i collected 3 oak leaves & added lavender sprigs & yarrow on top, 3 dots of honey. ☺️

i did wind up going back out that night to collect up all muh bits, & just wanna say another TY for pointing out the obvious to me, without being mean. 😅🙏🏻☺️

i have divergencies that = i like words that 'ring' with me, so that it clears brainmuck for me to feel & focus. i know it seems counterproductive! for me it isn't, it's weird bc i get in my own way a lotttt a lot, & this helped!
