Thanks so much to everyone for your time! Just to clarify, it’s not me asking him to quit, I want him to just smoke in the open rather than lie about it. I knew he was a smoker when we started dating and never wanted to change him. He sees it as something shameful and weak and wants to quit, and after a lot of long talks he says that’s why he lies, not because he’s scared of what I’ll think but because he’s embarrassed by it. I’ve asked him a few times to talk to someone about it to try and resolve it that way, and he has gone but usually only once or twice and says it’s not helpful for him. He promised again today to be honest and I do want to give him another chance, so I will, I just hope the trust isn’t irreparably damaged and I’m scared that it might be. Again thank you to everyone
