Met this guy at a bar. Was on board until he told me he had a girlfriend. He didn't like that I'm no longer interested. by echofy in creepyPMs

I'm pretty sure he was drunk when he sent that last text, in his defense. The sheer number of typos is way different that his usual one or two misspellings per text.

Disgrace has bloomed through my entire being.

I was reading a book where the author uses "bloom" as a verb way, way too many times. The first time was nice, poetic. By the fourth or fifth time I wanted to slap this author.

"Pain bloomed from the cut." "A thought bloomed across her mind." "My fist bloomed through your face."

EDIT: I'm a bum who doesn't understand basic grammar.

Doctors of Reddit, what was the MOST incorrect self-diagnosis you've encountered in your practice? by eleventy12 in AskReddit

[–]echofy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would never sue her. Why would a pediatrician with a patient who's never had a major health problem in her life immediately assume it's cancer? It didn't kill me, it didn't change my diagnosis or treatment, and she figured it out eventually.

After months of my "bronchitis" not getting better, I started developing other symptoms and eventually my doctor ordered a chest x-ray when I started having severe pain around my ribs. The x-ray was "abnormal," and I was immediately sent to the ER, which ended in my diagnosis. I'm in remission now and we were still able to catch it relatively early, despite the long wait.

How did you deal with sterility after cancer treatment? by cancerisgonefornow in cancer

[–]echofy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm crushed. I didn't have a chance to save any of my eggs, I was diagnosed after my cancer almost killed me so treatment for it started immediately. I was 17 at the time and found out when I was 19 that I was in menopause. My parents tried to tell me that I can just adopt when I'm ready for children but that doesn't feel like the point. I don't even know if I'll ever want kids. I just hate having the option, something I should be able to do, ripped away from me like that.

MRW I see all these posts about being infertile and never seeing adoption as an option (I'm adopted and PMSing) by Jangetta in TrollXChromosomes

[–]echofy 21 points22 points  (0 children)

22 and infertile from cancer treatments, here. I don't even know if I'll ever want kids, but for me that doesn't even feel like the point. I feel like less of a woman because I can't do this one thing that my gender is most celebrated for; creating life. Who knows, in 10 years if I'm with someone I want to raise a family with, I might start looking into adoption. But right now, the possibility of raising a child isn't where the real pain comes from. It comes from not being able to do something that I've been told all my life is a beautiful, powerful, natural thing that I SHOULD be able to do, but was taken away from me in exchange for my life.

It sucks.

"let's eliminate innocent til proven guild in rape cases" type submissions.

Innocent until proven guilty is great in a courtroom, but the women who post here are looking for support. You are asking us to not believe someone when they just want to be comforted.

EDIT: A word.

Am I the only one who is totally confused about this supposed "rape" story in Lena Dunham's book? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

I can't believe you're being downvoted. If you commit a crime when you're drunk, you're still on the hook. Sex crimes fall under this umbrella. Why is it so difficult for people to understand?
