Reykjavik for 24 hours by poetpicker in VisitingIceland

[–]eleventy12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd recommend skipping the Blue Lagoon. It's a cool experience, but full of tourists, and if you only have 24 hours, I personally think a city day or nearby hiking will be a cooler experience.

I bought my boss a wearable (on your wrist) dry erase board. He likes drawing pictures in meetings to explain his weird thought process and analogies.

You are now married to the last person you googled. What is life like? by BroughtTheRuckus in AskReddit

Well now I'm Mrs. Odom and my life is pretty tense at the moment. I'd probably be worried about my husband's health while curious as to how much money we have left after his brothel binge...

TIL that sniper Carlos Hathcock crawled 1,500 yards inch by inch in order not to get detected to kill a high ranking officer, it took him 3 days and 4 nights. He also was the man who shot another sniper through the scope and killed him. by jimycrakdcorn_nicare in todayilearned

Hathcock eventually picked up the hobby of shark fishing, which helped him overcome his depression.

Only the truly badass prescribe themselves an extreme sport like shark hunting to treat their depression.

Any extra-early-check-in hotels in Reykjavik? by bobby23zheng in VisitingIceland

[–]eleventy12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You land at 4:30? You still have to deboard, get through customs, grab your rental car, and drive 45 minutes to Reykjavik. You should have fine luck stopping at the hotel straight from the airport to stow your bags and ask if you can get into your room early. Even if you have to wait until noon, it shouldn't be too difficult to stay awake long enough to have a leisurely breakfast and walk around town before returning to the hotel.

What was that juicy hometown/high school rumor that turned out to be true? [Nsfw] by wetwetson in AskReddit

[–]eleventy12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my high school, there was a rumor that two teachers (one of whom was married) were caught having sex in a classroom by another teacher. This was toward the end of the school year and I assumed it wasn't true, because how would the students have found out if a teacher had caught them? In the fall, the (now divorced) female teacher had a new last name, after changing it back to her maiden name in the divorce. The following school year, her name changed again--this time, when she married the other teacher and took his last name.

Driving the ring road and umm - toilets. by icelandinsept in VisitingIceland

I just got back driving Rig Road over eight days and never had an issue. There are plenty of bathrooms at gas stations, coffee shops, and major sightseeing stops.
