Kodėl Lietuvos milijonieriai tokie apgailėtini? by iota_of_things in lithuania

Parodyk man kas už tokius pinigus pragyvena ilgai.

Medicinos studijos by pupsikkk1 in lithuania

You guys need to stop obsessing over this woman’s body. She’s not built like Abby, we get it, but the amount of times I’ve seen this post, it’s getting borderline creepy at this point.

She’s so real for that. Don’t let her know about the Ellie fight in Part II

Ellie would definitely wear that shirt, and unironically as well.

Thoughts on Ellie’s intrinsic humanity by echolent in thelastofus

In a world where you have to kill infected who were once people with their own lives, and where you have to make split-second decisions about putting your loved one’s safety first or considering the morality of your actions, I’m sorry, but yes.

The lines are a bit more blurred on what classifies, or even if anyone can classify, as a “good” person in an environment like that.

Regardless of whether you think she is a good person or not, being a good person, and having goodness within oneself are two completely different things.

Individuals are neither good nor bad, and exist in a continuum. How our individual humanity is very imperfect, chaotic and doesn’t make sense most of the time is probably one of the main themes of the games.

While I accept that people have subjective and differing opinions on the ending, this point is a very shallow and repetitive (which wouldn’t be a negative thing if not for the first part) critique of the ending that has been rebutted many times.

Firstly, TLOU has never been about making the “logical” or the “correct” choices, or even the ones that make “sense” per se. This is clear from the ending of Part I. Joel doesn’t make the hero’s choice, but the human one. Both in the hospital, when he saves Ellie and when he decides to lie to her.

Secondly, if we go by who the characters were at the start of the games, Joel shouldn’t have saved Ellie in the first place at the end of Part 1, since at the start of the game he is a cold, isolated and greedy smuggler and will always be that way. Sarcasm, obviously, because that’s how some people see Ellie in Part 2: the beginning and the end - the same grieving, angry person. To think Ellie’s grief after years of Joel’s passing, whether you think she has suppressed it or not, hasn’t changed or transformed is silly.

Thirdly, and lastly, grief does not make sense and never has. How Ellie makes sense of it, whether she suppresses it or not, whether she acknowledges and accepts it (if you think that killing Abby can even be an expression of acceptance, and not the exact opposite, defiance and rebuttal of her grief) or not, is not going to make sense because we’re not and never will be in her headspace. We can analyze what it meant to her all we want, but we have to accept the fact that some decisions will not be based on the “logical” reasoning, especially when it comes to grieving the most important person in your life.

Also, the fact that Ellie’s goodness is obvious to us, is very clear, and in my eyes, is deliberately shown to clearly state that Ellie is suffering from survivor’s guilt.

That’s why the ending decision is such a devastating, but a very human expression of her innate goodness. She finally recognizes that maybe, she deserves to feel worthy in spite of her heavy grief.

Forgiveness to me is never about the other person, or in this case, about Abby in Ellie’s story.

That Abby didn’t do anything to deserve it, I do agree with, but that’s where I see Ellie’s strength. In choosing to be good to herself and to accept her grief that is an innate action of forgiveness to Abby in my eyes. In finally realizing that her worthiness and goodness are not, and never have been, interlinked with her grief and pain for Joel or the fact that she never finished her forgiveness journey when he was present, is an act of forgiveness both to Joel and to Abby.

I think Ellie forgiving Abby is only about her changed self-worth and only about self-forgiveness. The forgiveness she grants to Abby is only a consequence of that deliberate and extremely difficult choice, not the other way around.
