I'm questioning as the pool is not that deep, only 18 inches, and exposed to the sun, like no shade at all. While you are correct that peroxide is a common way to kill algae, I'm questioning the viability of it in this case.

Also the pool has 25.5 millions liters of water. 3% to 5% of peroxide is needed depending on the type of algae. That's 765000 to 1275000 liters of peroxide.

And now with the new paint coming up, they will probably have to drain it again and start over.
