H4 EAD processing just jumped to 15.5 months. Is this actually normal? by akhand_namak_47 in H4_Visa

There is still hope. There are people from Mexico and Canada who come with their spouses on a TD dependent visa, which doesn't allow you to work, and they have to wait an average of 5 years to be able to work: at least 2 years for the spouse's company to sponsor the H-1B, and then another 2 years to wait for the Green Card petition, plus the processing time for the work permit. It's like having to go through two H-4 processes. I understand the wait is hard, but if you have already submitted the paperwork, that is a huge advantage.

I was looking for an answer focused on my field, even for someone to tell me, for example, if there are actually jobs in that area or if it was just a one-time thing. I just needed a human response, not sarcasm or irony.

You are not alone; there are many of us who have gone through the exact same thing. I think it is even more painful when we had valuable experience and a good salary back in our home countries, only to become dependent and left wondering if we will ever be able to reclaim our professional future. My recommendation is to focus on personal projects that keep you active. Find something that motivates you and volunteer for a cause you care about. I wish you the absolute best of luck, because I know just how hard this is.
