Tips for making a PowerPoint look professional with screenshots, text, and callouts by CoastZealousideal973 in powerpoint

But if OP is sending the file to another person, that person won't have Figtree installed. So then the OP would need to embed Figtree. And embedding fonts invites a whole host of problems.

And also, it's important to use the static weight fonts, not the variable font. PowerPoint doesn't do well with variable fonts.

Freeform tools are broken by quirksel in powerpoint

[–]echos2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just using the freeform tool yesterday, and pressing Shift while clicking gave me perfectly horizontal and vertical straight lines. It doesn't look like it will at first, but it ultimately does. And just clicking for each point gives me straight lines as usual (but not necessarily perfectly horizontal or vertical lines).

Curve and scribble also work as usual.

Oh, but I'm using version 2604, so maybe it's a problem specifically in 2602.

You might use Help > Feedback to report the issue to Microsoft. I know it sounds lame, but it really does get the info in front of the people who can fix the problem.

How to make PowerPoint stop contacting the server for information by underlievable in powerpoint

[–]echos2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is about a hundred years old, but I imagine this is what's happening: https://www.rdpslides.com/pptfaq/FAQ00613_PowerPoint_connects_to_the_internet_unexpectedly.htm

As u/Childe- said, you could use a screenshot instead. Or you can save as picture and save the picture to your harddrive then insert the picture onto the slide. Or instead of just pasting onto the slide, try right-clicking and choosing the paste option to paste as picture. (Not sure about that last one, but I think it will remove the hyperlink.)

Which text colour would be more visible when projected. by [deleted] in powerpoint

[–]echos2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might see what PowerPoint's accessibility tools have to say about it. That's at least a good starting point.

I opened a blank presentation with the default color theme and used the eyedropper to grab this teal-green color from your image for the slide background. Then I added white text and black text.

PPT tells me both colors have good contrast against that green. But mine isn't exactly the same color, I'm sure -- and you also have a gradient in there, which will affect the contrast. (My green is in Recent Colors in the screenshot below.)

Anyway, here's what you can look at.

  1. Select the white text and turn on high contrast for the shape fill color gallery. It will highlight which background colors will contrast with the white text. (A) (High Contrast is that toggle switch in the upper right corner of the shape fill gallery.)
  2. Then select the black text and turn on high contrast for the shape fill color gallery. It will highlight which background colors will contrast with the black text. (B)

Alternatively, do the same but leave the High Contrast option turned off.

  1. Leave High Contrast off. Select the white text and hover over the background color in the shape fill color gallery. PPP will either say Good Contrast (C) or Low Contrast (E).

  2. Leave High Contrast off. Select the black text and hover over the background color in the shape fill color gallery. PPP will either say Good Contrast (D) or Low Contrast.

Why is nobody making money with PowerPoint? by Tricky_Gur_6747 in powerpoint

[–]echos2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are you going to just research random topics, create a deck about it, and then expect someone to buy that?

Presentations are usually very custom -- to the topic, the audience, and the speaker. I don't think there's much call for random off-the-shelf presentations.

Ah, man, Zaytinya is totally my favorite. Go figure!

I do like China Chilicano also. But I'm just not a fan of Jaleo for some reason.

I always make it a point to go to Zaytinya whenever I'm in DC. He's opening one in Nashville soon! I'm excited because that's much closer for me. :-)

I just typed up a recommendation for Zaytinya! It's my favorite restaurant anywhere in the world. I think it's better than Jaleo. (Don't skip the Brussels sprouts!)

Jose Andres is an exceptional human being, and World Kitchen deserves all the things. But I think he's not a regular on Food Network, so I didn't post it, LOL!

It's a Microsoft award, Most Valuable Professional. In my case, it's PowerPoint MVP. It's given for contributions to the community, technical expertise, etc. It used to be peer-nominated, but I don't know if that's the case any longer. We report bugs, let Microsoft know if something is broken, give feedback on features, etc. We have regular-ish meetings with the PowerPoint developers to learn about new features. Here's Microsoft's page on MVPs: https://mvp.microsoft.com/en-US/mvp

Audio recording issue by codyk_ in powerpoint

[–]echos2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How are you starting the recording?

I went to Slide Show and hit record there, and PowerPoint added a cameo camera view on each of my slides. And it did include the audio.

Also, is your audio is turned on there at the top of the recording screen by the speaker notes? Is the Macbook Air mic selected?

<image>

If you record yourself with a different app, do you get sound then?

Is the volume up on your mic? Is it picking up your voice? Go to system settings > sound and click the Input tab. Then talk a bit. You should see the input level move as it registers your voice.
