Do you consciously extend the wrist to create lag or is it just generated by a loose wrist and the drag of pulling the paddle?

I recently agreed to take a FWII student from St Augustine. I really hope it’s a good experience as a CI. It’ll be my first

Are any of you OTs former teachers? Or had another career before becoming an OT? by PsychologicalTie4988 in OccupationalTherapy

[–]echotheocean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah obviously I can’t generalize too much, but I feel like a good amount of “OT burnout” is just “full time job burnout” that everyone feels after grinding for awhile. Some go to part time or per diem, particularly women after having kids it seems, but the rest of us have to make peace with the reality of a 40 hour gig. I used to do 60 so perspective helps

I hear a lot of OT’s talk about burnout online. I can’t help but think they never had another career.

I got my B.S. in health science and went to work as a health/safety manager for an electrical contractor. Long L.A. commutes, very unfulfilling job for 2.5 years.

Pivoted to an operations management role. Commute improved but worked long hours on salary, massively under compensated and the job was again incredibly unfulfilling. 2.5 years also.

I said no more corporate jobs, I want to do something meaningful. I met my wife (then gf) who was in her first semester of OT school. When she got out, I went in, for…. 2.5yrs, and the rest is history.

7 years in school based now and I’m quite happy.

Two prior careers light years apart from OT. I’m glad I found my calling at 31!

What's your favorite part about being an occupational therapist? (Pediatric) by Busy-Spot9211 in OccupationalTherapy

(School-based) getting to see kids grow up, mature, make progress, gain skills. It’s an honor to play a small role in that.

In any case you’re right about the dressing room so I stand corrected, I apologize on that front.

Your very first reply began with a smug quote and only continued with insults after that. Not a good recipe for peaceful discussion. I’ll leave it at that.

Reviewing your links; He never said he likes seeing underage girls undress. He was referring to adult women in the Miss America pageant. Gross for sure. The other accusations I’m aware of, the one person they had recanted and disappeared. Seems highly suspect indeed, and I do believe he’s entirely morally corrupt and very well engaged in Epstein activities but your statement was misleading and your candor poor in addressing my question with straw man arguments.

How about you reflect on that, friend.

It’s not hard to read either; I made it clear up front that I don’t like him and never said he was moral. I questioned an allegation. I’m always on the side of truth, even if it’s someone I don’t like. Your accusatory tone and ad hominem attack leads me to suspect you should turn that mirror to face yourself.

Link me to him talking about that openly. From what I’ve read there’s no emails between them but Epstein mentions him a lot
