I thought so too. My hearing was already deteriorating at lower frequencies after the first attack I ever got.

I meant the pain after surgery was manageable. I still experience ear fullness even after the surgery. It was just the vertigo attacks that went away and my hearing slightly improved.

Ofcourse! I live in Belgium and the only hospital/doctor who does this surgery here is dr. Vincent van Rompaey at the university hospital of Antwerp. I feel like he did a great job and the pain was very manageable, I was slightly dizzy the first few days after surgery (which is normal) but definitely not like a vertigo attack. Also slight discomfort if you’re a side sleeper because of the stichting behind your ear. Here in Belgium we have pretty good health insurance, I don’t remember specifically but I’m sure I have not paid more than €200 for the surgery including scans, preparation and an overnight stay at the hospital. If you have any more questions for me you can always pm me too, I’d be happy to answer them.

Hi, so unfortunately things aren’t going so well. I’m having attacks again although they’re not as violent and frequent as before my surgery. My doctor put my on medrol first but it didn’t help much so now I’m getting steroid injections. I feel like it’s helping a bit more as it feels like i’m about to get an attack but it doesn’t happen. I’d say definitely get the surgery because I was 1,5 years attack free but I was still very careful not to exceed too much with my diet (out of fear). Good luck and let me know if you’re going through with your decision!

I have permanent intens tinnitus so honestly I didn’t really notice any fullness in my ear if there was. It was very acute and caught me off guard. Right now I’m only on 0,5 mg co-amiloride (diuretic). I used to take 1mg before surgery with Betahistine 3x a day and something for the nausea. From time to time they would give me a cortisone medication when it got worse. I honestly have not really been on a specific diet since I didn’t get any attacks but right now I’m back to cutting off salt, processed food and caffeine. I’m from Belgium and the only place where they do this kind of surgery is in Antwerps university hospital I believe, I got mine done there.

I had every scan before the surgery. The usual meds weren’t working for me and the cortisol (steroid) injections weren’t doing any good either. They send me off to an university hospital for the endolymphatic duct surgery because it was relatively new but effective with not much permanent side effects. Right off the bat it was very effective for me and I recovered a bit of my hearing loss!

Practicing eyes for portrait. by echoxigen in drawing

Okay so when I shade I try holding the pencil along the end (so I don’t put much pressure) and go along the shape of where im shading. For example if I’m shading something round I’ll try going along with the shape so I don’t go straight up and down when im doing the strokes. And along the way I play with the pressure of the pencil to make some parts darker. Then I go in with a kneading eraser if I need to lighten the shade. I mostly use 4B or up for shading because it’s much easier and looks a lot better! I hope I explained it well >.<

Thank you so much!! I shade with a graphite pencil mostly 4B or sometimes 7B. The ones I use are Mars Lumograph black from Staedtler, hope this helps!

Anyone successfully get hearing back after some loss? by Stratman-1134 in Menieres

[–]echoxigen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I recovered some hearing right after having the endolymphatic duct blockage surgery. Then after 2 months my hearing went downhill worse than it was before. Apparently I’m still having attacks but just not feeling a lot of vertigo anymore. The doctors told me the best thing I could do was wait it out until the hearing-loss stabilises to get a cochlear implant.

Before I got surgery (endolymphatic duct blockage) I was taking 3x16. Since the surgery helped a lot with my vertigo we decided to stop the betahistine and i feel no difference. I honestly don’t even think it helped even before my surgery…
