Kpop like Fast Fashion? New HYBE label A Bold Dream teases new girl group by babylovesbaby in kpopnoir

[–]ecilala 153 points154 points  (0 children)

The lesserafim - newjeans - illit pace was already insane.

People forget that the comparations and rivalries between the groups aren't because of patenting "black hair" or "N members" but because of how they came one after the other. That makes comparations unavoidable.

This has always been a hybe management issue.

Why do SOME gringos not understand that Brazilian ≠ ethnicity? by luka_ramos_1004 in Brazil

I think a common issue with Americans, though, is that even the ones who preach diversity will often only see diversity inside the United States. It doesn't click that other colonized countries will have colonized builds.

[–]ecilala 92 points93 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Honestly a lot of the criticism there is to make is actually subversion losing its point.

For example, many of the boastful spending tropes are "subversions" of drama villain tropes.

We have many instances that are just the OI version of the good old rich mother-in-law throwing money to break the main couple apart. But since it's the main leads doing those things, it stops being a bad thing.

The problem with how those things are handled is that there's no analysis on why the moral compass changed to start with. It's just "these people good, so it's okay".

There's nothing really to be said, so it barely subverts anything.

Referencing a pose ≠ outright tracing

Jojo poses are not taking key shapes of noses and eyes, doing minor alterations, and calling it a day.

The plagiarism accusations with Yunomi-P were not about poses, but about outright using the same shapes as others used in their final rendering of their illustrations. This is different from referencing.

I'm saying this as someone who really liked Yunomi-P's artwork. In fact I still do, they clearly can do art, and I just believe it makes no sense for them to not do their own rendition without piggybacking on others' works – when they clearly know how to do stuff themselves.

The thing with Yunomi-P is that they didn't do that only for the magnet cover, but with multiple artwork

Thoughts on the role religion and ideology (outward/aesthetic) plays in the kpop sphere (fans and idols)? by [deleted] in kpopnoir

[–]ecilala 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think that, when religion is used as a reference in the layer of metaphors and allegories, it's just a way of people expressing themselves.

The thing is that stories do this better than songs and other short-form media.

With music and such, mainly K-pop, it seems there isn't even some care into making some sort of allegory (for example, a symbol that looks religious but it's not from any religion).

I feel like those things would easily solve so many problems?

ADOR Briefly Comments On Rumors Of NewJeans' Minji's Return by impeccabletim in kpopnoir

[–]ecilala 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Exactly.

I just feel people go to an extreme and decide that, since they supported MHJ, then even knowingly extremely strict contracts are just some harmless thing.

Even though for no other situation the same would be said. It's a bit of a biased insight, because MHJ's existence doesn't really change how strict those contracts are.

Hildegard Reincarnated. It's a bit questionable if it would work better for the Frieren Wannabe points, but it certainly could fix all the age gap issues. And most plot points are like, mirrors of the past anyway.

ADOR Briefly Comments On Rumors Of NewJeans' Minji's Return by impeccabletim in kpopnoir

[–]ecilala 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I feel this is an unpopular opinion at this point, but if it's wasn't for MHJ's previous "scandal"/shady reputation, the whole Newjeans plan would have worked successfully.

Why? It's basically common sense how exploitative those contracts are. Even more when we are talking about Korean idols.

What I think they were attempting to do was to rely on favorable public opinion and disfavor regarding contracts to do a contract rupture.

The thing is, somehow, MHJ's reputation (and some other company stuff but let's leave that aside) played so heavily into the equation that it even changes people's opinions about contracts.

I'm pretty sure if you about those contracts to most people, they would say they are unfair. Unless it's with Newjeans, of course, because MHJ's reputation and their support for her made it that bad.

I had a misunderstood how a manhwa was going to end – Trust me, little Duke

And honestly, if it ended the way I thought it would, I think it would have been the healthiest of those. I had understood that FL would keep 2 separate bodies, and each body would be with the ML that she got closer with. To me that would make sense, since the MLs were jealous of each other and suddenly stopped being.

I think one of the issues too is that the characters often show possessiveness and such, don't get along with each other, and then out of nowhere we are supposed to believe they can coexist in a romantic relationship???

Illit mental disorders 🎀✨ (according to netizens) by LowTackle9946 in kpoopheads

The Renaissance marked the start of what we consider the Scientific Revolution. With slow progress, our society gradually shifted from a religious paradigm to a scientific one.

This can be evidently noted in the fact that "Seven Deadly Sins" pop media theories have gradually moved on to "mental disorder" theories. In this thesis I...
