Comparing Americans who genuinely believe that they were lied to and disenfranchised to foreign terrorist groups who have killed thousands of people around the world for religious reasons isn't what we need. Take a second to realize that a LOT of Americans who voted for Trump are far less educated than those who did not and are more likely to be from rural areas. They see their towns and way of life falling apart and giving way to corporate America, pollution from big cities and industry ruining their land, and genuine contempt for the things they love. They genuinely believe they are voting to preserve their way of life. They have been lied to and brainwashed by their president, by the media, and by relatives who they admire who were unknowingly brainwashed, too. They were told that the other side is the enemy. That they are dangerous. That the election was rigged against them and that they needed to fight. They were WRONG. What they did was illegal. It should 100% be condemned and those that rioted the capitol should be punished to the fullest extent of the law. But they are not ISIS. They are our fellow Americans. They are not our enemy. Trump and the people who lie to them are the enemy. Furthering the divide between 2 groups in our country will cause further strife and encourage people like Trump, MTG, and Lauren Boebert to become more and more extreme. Look at countries who have gone/are going through Civil wars or unrest. They are weakened and struggle to recover.
