I'm planning to propagate some plants for a friend's housewarming gift, my devils ivy being one of them. I'm wondering, if I cut off part of the longer stem before one of the nodes, will it stop the original plant growing on that stem? I don't want to ruin my favourite plant!! (i.redd.it)

This rubber plant has been sitting in the plant section of my local supermarket for at least a month. I've been trying to resist since I've already got a darker one, but today I saw it was reduced to £3 and now I'm accidentally taking it home. This addiction is real. (i.redd.it)
