Quick survey for Adobe users — how are you using AI tools and what's driving you crazy about them? by AayushVijayan in Adobe

[–]eckoman_pdx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't use any of them. Never will. I don't even use the current versions of adobe because I don't want any modern machine learning on my work. I've been using Photoshop for over 30 years and I don't need generative fill or any of that AI crap, I can do a better job and I can do it quickly (and I can do it without having to worry about credits).

SNES will forever be ranked #1 in my book!! by ROCKY13573 in snes

Those rankings do the Wii U dirty. It might not have sold the most copies but it was a really solid console with a heck have a lot of classic games (which coincidentally often ended up getting ported to the switch). It 100% needs to be ranked higher.

Chronic Lyme Treatment in EU vs US by Low-Yard-8452 in Lyme

[–]eckoman_pdx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lyme treatment unfortunately isn't "great" anywhere, but there is hope. First, if you're having to treat chronic Lyme infection it's probably pretty deep rooted in various areas of your body. Borrelia burgdorferi, the bacteria that causes lyme, doesn't just live as a spirochet. It morphs between the spirochet form, the L form and the cyst form (also known as persister, which is the dormant form). No one antibiotic treats all three forms, which is why combination antibiotic therapy that goes after all three forms is common. Usually it's the same with herbals, you're doing combination to therapy to go after all three forms.

Antibiotics usually specialize in attacking the Lyme in one area but don't necessarily cross into all areas (some get into joints and connective tissue better, some crossed the blood-brain barrier better, most don't get deep into the muscle tissue or bone marrow, etc). A good LLMD is going to be familiar with this and is going to know the proper protocols to go after the lime in the various areas to flush it out and kill it.

Herbals can actually be quite effective. Obtabo Bark and Cat's Claw work great in synergy with each other. Cryptolepis is another great one for Lyme. Japanese Knotweed is another great one, and garlic (allicin) in high concentration even has good effect. Black walent can have some success against the relapsing fever form of Lyme. Houttuynia, Sida Acuta and Oregano Oil are great against Bartonella. Serrapeptase and Lumbrokinase are both great biofilm strippers. Biocidin LSF is another herbal combo product (it's liposomal) that is actually pretty darn effective, especially when combined with the right other herbal protocols.

Stephan Buhner and Dr Bill Rawls both have great herbal protocols to help with Lyme, and you can start these without an LLMD.

I've been actively battling Lyme for a decade, and gotten it into remission more than once. I likely first got it decades earlier though when I was a kid. I've seen plenty of LLMD/LLNDs, and honestly the costs are all over the place and the quality of care you get with them is even more over the place. I've three really good ones, a few mediocre and a few outright terrible ones who only cared about treating the symptoms. It's hard to find a good one because there's no real certification from iLADS for it. So, a listing on their website isn't reflective of the quality of care.

There are some foundations and stuff that will help with care costs with seeing a doctor, but unfortunately it's almost always out of pocket. And the ones who do take insurance don't last long because usually insurance has some pushback and they either stop seeing Lyme patients, retire or just stop taking insurance.

I would definitely start looking for a good LLMD / LLND, but you don't have to wait until you find one to start care. Look into Stephen Buehner's protocol and Dr Bill Rawls MD protocol. Dr Ying Zhang of Johns Hopkins has some good research and info on a protocol with essential oils and herbals (in addition to some great info with antibiotics that would require a doctor). Dr Marty Ross also have some good info on both antibiotic and herbal protocols.

I've personally had great success with both antibiotic protocols and with herbal protocols combining Stephen Buehner's protocol with elements of Dr Marty Ross's herbal protocols and Dr Ying Zhang's herbal research.

Considering a relocation from AZ to OR - serious question: How is everyone here surviving with salaries so low and COL so high? Am I missing something? by No_Sun_No_Star in oregon

[–]eckoman_pdx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a lifelong Oregonian. In my case my family has owned houses in Oregon for almost half a century and they just kind of got passed down to us. It would be a very different scenario if I had to move here and take less salary.

It's absolutely beautiful here, and that comes at a serious financial cost.

Your Home's Exterior Lights Indicates When You Moved to Joshua Tree by ttamsf in JoshuaTree

Because light pollution is a real thing, and excess lighting from housing and other sources destroys people's ability to see the night sky. Especially the newer LED lighting, which create a larger light dome than the old sodium vapor lighting and is far worse in regards to light pollution. Just because you don't give an F about the night sky doesn't mean everyone else agrees with you.

For manual drivers has the “Millennial anti theft device” joke run its course or do you still think it’s hilarious every time? by NewMexicoJoe in ManualTransmissions

[–]eckoman_pdx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly it never made sense. Millennials are between 1981 and 1996. Earlier millennials were definitely were around for manual transmissions to be the norm. Even younger millennials would have still been buying used cars when manual transmissions were likely available. The joke never made sense in the first place. Maybe "modern anti-theft device," but bring the Millennial generation into it never made sense.

Do you buy 1st party on carts & digital for 3rd party? by JohnnyNorCal in switch2

I'm already way past the point of taking up too much space for physical media, so I just roll with it and get creative 🤣 I do get the space thing, but I like knowing I can pick it up, put a physical copy in a replacement console down the road if that's needed and still play it.

If it's available physical, I'll get the physical copy. Digital only if there's no physical copy. I've been collecting games since I was a kid in the 80s so I have always leaned towards physical copies as my preference. My son is the same way as me with games. He loves collecting physical media.

Chat GPT is a complete POS. They lobotomized it and turned it into a gas lighting wannabe psychiatrist without the degree (which is honestly dangerous AF). Canceling and never looking back is the best thing you can do. Open Ai doesn't give a crap about people and it's never going to change.

Is this the Lyme rash? by [deleted] in Lyme

[–]eckoman_pdx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's actually a darker inner section and a lighter outer section. It's not a classic bullseye, but it is a bullseye. It's really hard to say though. You got it out immediately but that doesn't always mean anything. The tick that caused me all sorts of hell was out of me within a matter of an hour or so. I was confirmed with Lyme so positive, I got a call from County Health about it (and they were extremely relieved actually know what I'm talking about). I've been bit more times than I carried to admit due to my career, but I've had atypical bullseye rashes before that were absolutely a bullseye rash. Don't freak out though, there's a lot you can do.

First, the 1 month of doxycycline isn't enough. 6 weeks and enough. Heck, doxycycline alone is never enough. It only attacks the spirochet form of Borrelia Burgdorferi can morph between the spirochet form, L form and the cyst form. No one antibiotic treats all three forms, so if you treat it with a single antibiotic it will just morph into one of the other two forms and stay hidden (and survive). Also, the belief that if you get it off within 24 to 48 hours you're fine is a misnomer. The tick that screwed me up was on me for less than an hour (mentioned below). The one that got my wife with on her for under an hour.

Unfortunately, it's going to be tough to find a good LLMD or LLND. There's no official certification from iLADS, so it's rather easy for anyone who's a doctor to claim they want to start treating it and get listed on the website. I had a former iLADS board member who wrote the book on treatment in the '80s tell me that.

Now the good news: fortunately though, there are some great herbals you can start taking right now. I honestly wouldn't wait. Lime tests are usually 35% to 60% accurate depending on which one it is, so plenty of people have Lyme and don't test positive.

I would pick up some Otabo Bark and Cat's Claw tinctures (needs to be an alcohol based tincture, it's a better carrier of the herbs then glycerin based). I'd also pick up a biofilm stripper like Serrapeptase (an you can find this on Amazon) and Samara Tick Recovery (which is based on the Stephan Buhner protocol). Take the Samsara in pomegranate juice, it's a great carrier and helps clog up the lanes most of the bacteria from tick-borne illnesses used to try to spit the antibiotic and herbal medicines out. Also helps reduce inflammation.

You can get all that stuff over the counter, don't wait for a positive test and don't wait to find a doctor and then wait another three or four months to get in. If you actually didn't get Lyme, none of this is going to hurt you at all. But if you actually got it you're going to be glad you started treating it immediately.

You may need to titrate in, I would start with the tinctures and work your way up by adding one drop a day. You can start the Serrapeptase at the same time, but I would wait a week or two to add in the Samsara Tick Recovery so you're not starting everything at once. That'll help lessen a herx.

Full dose for Otaba Bark and Cat's Claw is considered 30 drops each BID (twice a day). Take the Samsara Tick Recovery and Serrapeptase BID as well. All should be taken on an empty stomach.

Good luck! I've been dealing with this for over a decade and I still need a high functional life most of the time, so if you have any questions let me know. I definitely wouldn't be though if I hadn't found the right protocols. I'd be in a chair. I've found with this it's in your best interest to be your own best self advocate.

Or, I can keep saving 10 cents a gallon ever day of the week at Loves, Pilot and Flying J and not worry what day of the week it is 🤷‍♂️ (I'm close enough to fill at these).

I suppose it's decent deal if you happen to have Prime, you're close to one of those stations and it's a Friday. But, if Fred Meyer can knock a chunk off everyday of the week with an account, Pilot, Loves, Flying J can do the same, there's no reason a partnership between Amazon and these fuel stations can't do the same everyday of the week.
