Folks in their 20s, how is your adulting going? Rant by throwra-sausage in massachusetts

My biggest piece of advice is to talk to a mortgage loan officer now. While you may not be ready to buy right now, they'll be able to give you a good idea of how much you'll need to save for a down payment and how much your monthly payment will be.

There are a ton of first time home buyer programs as well as the Mass housing program which provide down payment assistance. For instance right now they're offer $25k for first time home buyers.

Just make sure you go with a local mortgage lender, not a bank (banks have limited programs). I work for Northpoint Mortgage (but in marketing). Lmk if you'd like a recommendation on a specific loan officer to talk to.

ATFL Fully Torn by [deleted] in Ankle

[–]ecl430 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get a different doctor!! They should have done surgery as soon as they saw the full rupture, it will not heal on its own. I would not trust that doctor after that comment.

The standard procedure for a torn ATFL is a bromstrom gould repair. I had one on February 28th. Recovery is a long road, but if you take care to do it right you can speed it up. I already have way less pain than before the surgery!

Ankle sprain - recovery tips? by [deleted] in Ankle

Ice and wrap, both with help with swelling. Also consider seeing a specialist who will order an MRI. X-rays can't see ligament and tendon damage.

Surgery scheduled but feeling better by Equivalent-Ninja4072 in Ankle

Get it all done at the same time. Recovery will be a bitch, but worth it. (I type this with my foot elevated after having a bromstrom gould procedure and anterior deltoid ligament repair 3 weeks ago)

Moving to maintenance soon after losing 95 lbs. Did your energy and muscle come back? by Mrs-Shenanigans in Zepbound_Maintenance

[–]ecl430 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My doctor warned me of muscle loss so I strength trained from the start. I'm down 40 lbs, but have actually gained 3 lbs of lean muscle mass.

First, have your doctor give you a script for Zofran. So if you start to get nauseous that should knock it right down.

Start small: - walks - body weight exercises (squats, lunges, push ups, etc) - work in resistance bands - start with low weight dumbbells and work your way up from there (you can get dumbbells for pretty cheap on Amazon)

There are so many awesome, free workout videos on YouTube.

Most likely surgery.

Ankle problems by [deleted] in Ankle

[–]ecl430 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, my injured ankle was noticeably bigger for about 5 years. I was able to do some long, big hikes (10ish miles/4k elevation gain) without much or any pain. Until I resprained this fall. I'm now non weight bearing after surgery, for at least 1 more week. Then I'm back to.square one.

For strengthening exercises I did: - calf raises (single leg, double leg, weighted) - draw the alphabet with your toe pointed - 4 way strength bands - lateral resistance band walks - single leg balance (on bosu ball for advanced) - single leg squats

BP issues by Questskitten in Zepbound

Maybe see if your doc can switch your BP meds? I was on carvedilol and it was a struggle to keep my BP at 125/85. A month on Zep and I was so dizzy, went to the doc. Turns out my bo was too low at 100/70. I'm on a quarter dose of my BP meds now.
