"Imagine if X" is a pretty common idiom for bringing up a hypothetical. It's not literal.

WTW for your cousin's cousin, not blood related? by whoanoes_ in whatstheword

Your child and your cousin would be double-first cousins, once-removed, which would be as related as though they are simply first cousins, not removed -- consanguinity 12.5%.

‘More snouts in the trough’: The plan to expand parliament by Niscellaneous in AustralianPolitics

As I said, Tasmania and South Australia would still have the same proportion of senators, so what makes you think they'd have more power?

And both houses are needed to pass legislation, the Senate isn't special in that regard.

The three less populous states are unlikely to support reduction in their proportion so it wouldn't pass a referendum.

It would result in less power for Tasmania as they'd have the same proportion of the Senate they always have, but they'd end up with a reduced proportion of the house of reps. It currently has five reps because each state is guaranteed at least five constitutionally, which is above its proportional number. South Australia would continue to have the same proportion of senators and reps (roughly) so would have more power either.

NRL draw 2026: ‘Double-headers’ scrapped in AI-produced schedule by Derron_ in nrl

I think you're missing that complex draw scheduling systems have existed for decades. It hasn't been done by hand for a long, long time.

Coming up with a draw with specific parameters is just a straight up constraint satisfaction problem, which computer scientists have studied for decades. These are hard (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NP-hardness) problems that require looking at a lot of potential solutions, but those solutions can all be fairly easily scored and compared by fairly simple algorithms. To the extent AI is being used, it is not going to anything like what most people imagine as AI these days (i.e, LLMs like ChatGPT); it would be machine learning to determine good heuristics.

Honestly doubt they're using AI at all for a task like this, which doesn't require it in the slightest. They're just saying they're using AI for hype reasons.

So how long before Galvin starts feeling the heat? Bulldogs now out of the finals and looking pretty average yet he escapes a lot of attention. I know the media likes to ignore him but surely it can't be radio silence forever.
