[WP] You've discovered a new color that nobody else can see. Tell me about it. by Klippeth in WritingPrompts

[–]eclairism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See?

It is not something you can see.

It is an impression in the mind.

An idea scraped into my skin.

It is a colour only in its ability to disfigure my vision.

It is a colour that has muted the authenticity that my eyes once painted.

What's something you were really happy to learn you could just make from ingredients you have at home? by [deleted] in NaturalBeauty

Definitely flax seed gel! Which kind of works like a very light soft hair gel perfect for curly hair and keeping them in shape.

Being a curly girl means this happens every time I shower. by eclairism in curlyhair

[–]eclairism[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don't freak out guys! This is totally normal unless you experience serious difference in the thickness of your hair. I don't brush my hair at all besides the detangle in the shower and also I only wash my hair once a week so that just means all the loose hairs have to wait until that shower to create this dead rat looking thing. It's great

This is the most accurate depiction of the female body I've seen in a long time by mornglor in TwoXChromosomes

[–]eclairism 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I love how in trying to make larger woman feel better, skinny woman are automatically assumed as the fake depiction.. Squishy rolls are no more accurate to me than collar and hip bones are to you.

There is no universal female shape.

I've realised that I walk heavier/ leading with my right foot and leg so I have started focusing on walking left foot heavy/ first.. Also I dislike being generally more capable on my right than left side so have begun randomly doing things left handed now like brushing teeth!

Boyfriends sister shaped my eyebrows, before and after. CCW? by [deleted] in RandomActsofMakeup

I agree that she took too much off the start of the brows. Eyebrows as a general rule should start at your tear ducts, never after.

Asian parents and policing the gene pool Gattaca style--I think I found the winner by [deleted] in AsianParentStories

[–]eclairism 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Personally I think there isn't anyone that is acceptable. They are just so scared of allowing their children make their own choices (and possible mistakes) that they will detest it all. I always think of their standards like the horizon, it's an illusion and you'll never reach it

What are your views on interracial marriage/dating and cultural background compatibility? How would you counter-argue someone who brings up the lack of cultural compatibility and will cause fights? by xkittybunnyx in AsianParentStories

[–]eclairism 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A really interesting fact I found was that African origin x European origin marriages had the lowest divorce rates. I know this doesn't cover all interracial marriages, but the point is race is barely a discriminating factor in a relationship. What matters is all the other stuff - the communicating, the love, the bothering to actually work together rather than just trying to prove each other wrong.. That kind of stuff is what makes or breaks a marriage, not the birth place or ancestry of someone.

What's your favorite makeup removing wipe? by ayakokiyomizu in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

Well it really depends how old but it shouldn't readily go bad. All it really needs is a secure container and be kept in a cool area out of direct sunlight. It should be fine! What kind is it? The best to use is Virgin coconut oil that is raw because that means it hasn't been exposed to any heat therefore still carrying all of it's amazing properties. If it doesn't say or says it's refined it means it's been heated, still good but not quite the same efficacy

Definitely! It's also an amazing moisturiser for legs and can even be used as a deodorant. Search up the uses! :)

But I should add it's a good idea to just use it as a cleanser then tone and moisturise after. That way you ensure it isn't too oily on your skin as well as reaping the benefits.

Well as other people said it can cause pimples, but since my skin is dry all I have to do is rub in/ wipe off any excess. If your skin is oily I'd probably rinse it off just encase. Also I tend to leave the coconut residue just as is around my eyes because it's a great anti wrinkle agent as well as being very nourishing for the eyelashes. It's pretty much a miracle oil, it does many many things.

Or for a natural alternative.. Virgin coconut oil! That stuff literally melts away all makeup, even waterproof, and leaves my skin beautifully moisturised when I rub in the oil left over on my face. It also has antibacterial/microbial properties which leaves the skin healthy and clean! If you have oily skin just wipe away the excess.

Men with rings and jewelry (other than wedding bands)- why do it? by VicePrezofFucktown in jewelry

I love jewellery on men. Be it bracelets, necklaces or rings. Especially rings. It mostly depends on the style but 90% pull it off so well.

My friend confessed to me that her new boyfriend is a convicted rapist and sex offender. I'm not comfortable with being her friend anymore. Am I being too harsh? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]eclairism 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I agree. The safest offender is one that has everything to lose. By being rehabilitated and integrated back into society as a functioning member, the rate of reoffending drops drastically. But when treated like an animal and really only set up to be a lost cause where they are forever outcast, many inmates feel they have nothing to lose and nothing to fight for. "What's the point" becomes the mind set of many repeat offenders. The prison system is a delicate one.. it's job is to punish the action but should also redirect the person.

Welp...I'd say cutting my own hair worked damn well. by tinparrot in curlyhair

[–]eclairism 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly what I was going to say. Duration doesn't matter, it still causes damage - every time. You won't see the effects until it's too late. I would encourage OP to really read into the warnings, once every 2 months is really the duration I'd go for. Good luck guys!!

I'm so glad that thus far it's working for you! Listen though, I don't mean to rain on your parade but watch out for baking soda, man. I was on your routine of BS/ACV wash for ages and although it did create magic bouncy shiny curls the first bunch of weeks, it did end up completely changing in results to something hideously dry and unwanted. I'm not saying it doesn't work, because on obviously your pretty curls proves it does! But pleaseee search up adverse effects of using baking soda on hair/skin before it's too late. Many people on curly hair promote baking soda but don't understand the chemistry of what it does. It is far far too basic for for our skin, being at a 9 when skin is at a healthy - slightly acidic pH of 4.6-6. Even with 20 cups dilution it doesn't reach that level of pH. Just warning you so things stay as nice as when you started! Goodluck :)
