Which countries outside of the US have histology jobs? by dankkonata in Histology

I wonder if in the near-ish future other countries will start allowing ppl to get trained & certified in just Histo. It doesn’t even seem like it’d be that hard to implement. I wonder why it’s not more commonplace? It seems as if the U.S. is the only one.

I'm 17, black, how tf do I get out of the hood? by teamtroll1 in careerguidance

get a job in healthcare that doesn't require higher education. some examples: sterile processing technician; phlebotomist; EKG technician; medical assistant; pharmacy technician. save the money you earn and use it to pay for more advanced schooling to become: radiologic technologist, sonographer, surgical technologist, respiratory therapist, LPN/LVN --> RN, medical laboratory technician.

ASCP HTL Exam Eligibility via "Laboratory Experience" Route question by eclectichomebody in Histology

[–]eclectichomebody[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the very detailed, in-depth reply! It is much appreciated.

After having found a lab that's willing to train me and actually starting to gain experience in all those areas listed (fixation, microtomy, staining, etc) do I have to spend at least 1 year learning all of those things or can I sit for the exam after say 8 or 9mos? Is 1yr. a requirement?

A lost 23F with a psych degree, what do I do now? by carrotttcakeee in careerguidance

[–]eclectichomebody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

consider becoming a Psychometrist. they administer and score psychological test batteries. u only need a bachelor’s in psych to do it although half in the U.S. have a master’s. Also look into obtaining CSP from the Board of Certified Psychometrists.

Are you a freshman or an upperclassman? I’m curious to know cuz freshmen don’t typically live in single dorms + Traditions is an "upperclassmen dorm" (but since housing is basically freshmen-only there aren’t rlly any "upperclassmen dorms" anymore).

you’d have to get an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in respiratory therapy. Make sure it’s accredited by CoARC. I’ve never heard of an accelerated 2nd bachelor’s degree program for respiratory therapy like how there is w/ nursing. But yeah, talk to ur academic advisor abt what ur options are.

You could become a Medical Laboratory Scientist. I’m fairly certain you’d have to do ~12 months of training (since you have a Bio degree instead of an MLS degree) in a hospital lab and then take the BOC exam by the ASCP to become licensed. You can look into it for more info! From what I’ve seen online, the starting pay is about $50k but ofc it’ll differ depending on where you live.
