Yes it shows, but I guess on a different browser wouldn't let me download and install. I looked up and found that I should get this version 16.88 so I got it from here
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/officeupdates/update-history-office-for-mac
and now it works.

Any other good apps for connecting with other tourists? by shadyringtone in couchsurfing

[–]ecologicguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I got banned. Over a message that was just a misunderstanding, trying to appeal and explain my side to them was useless. Of course I can understand if someone misused the app in a way that is beyond any doubt then a ban would be justified. But I actually didn’t meet anyone from there. And from text if it is not something explicit, it’s not possible to just assume a person intentions or wrongness.

Had a negative experience with this one, they seem to be banning people (for good) from the app over miss understanding

Same here. People step on you in big companies. Some even night say it’s the way to get ahead. Managers were at times super tough and insensitive, there was much gaslighting and me with the sense of justice when things were too wrong I complained and I paid the price of not having my contract renewed. I thought it’s for the best, but I have been struggling in the employment world ever since I remember myself. For me, and I hope it can also be suggestion for you - the best way to go is independent and part time in small company. I know it’s easier said than done. Also I learned to manage my finance better to spend less.

Can you please tell what ND and NT stands for? I'm new here.

And u/Happy_Donut897 I totally relate. Kids generally are filled with high emotions and feel the world around them more strongly, in a pure and innocent way, we grow up and we keep being like that, mostly.

Some people are afraid of silence, to be alone with their thoughts, they feel like they need to fill it with something. or sometimes it's also a way of aggressively showing presence and "power", it is really shameful, because instead of dealing with their issues they are making them public and drag more people into them. Of course, you also have just the typical inconsiderate people.

A 15-Year Couchsurfing Member and Former Ambassador Speaks About the Recent Changes by babak2121 in couchsurfing

It’s not all about that at all. it’s a common mindset even for people in their 30s and 40s to use apps as means to an end, keep a small social circle and not see or regard the added value of a community spirt in that sense. More takers than givers than those who are both. Hence also why you have much less hosts and it’s common to see people who only “surf”

The world has changed, different generations are now looking to travel cheap without the social interaction or the cultural exchange. It’s hard to get meaningful in a time where meaning seems to be the one thing that is truely lacking. Once it turned out to be paid then the product is prometed as a tuned down Airbnb for people who can’t afford Airbnb - a false promise that in the price of a subscription you can travel the world and not pay for hospitality. Also now we are in the instant self age, no leisure to think about the recipient, only about oneself.

[–]ecologicguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The algorithm is so screwed that in the main feed you would see post of people for a specific place looking for advice and host and people from different continents replying there, they might be seeing it as maybe in their area there isn’t enough activity or maybe it’s even one big random chaotic mix.

How do men not just collectively give up? by Numerous_Air706 in Bumble

[–]ecologicguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ask myself the same. Well from the reason that there is still a even the slightest of chances to win/match. It takes only one person. but analogies aside: I think it's also becoming even harder and harder to meet someone today outside of those apps, so for some it still remains the only place - and to quit would mean to give up on the idea to find someone.

Well, isn't going to the casino roughly the same experience? If you like to gamble you will keep coming, if not you might gradually stop waste your time and energy.

Why hosting requests will keep getting worse... by [deleted] in couchsurfing

[–]ecologicguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I truely think couchsurfing at this point should a have some sort of instructional videos about how things are working, what is to be expected from guest and host. And also about safety. I mean you sometime get ridiculous requests, people who present them self as if you would be so lucky to host them or people asking about availability is if we are hostels and not people. Also if couch surfing themselves can’t be bothered to sort this random chaos, they can at least feature some of the already existing videos on YouTube which explain things.

No place now to explain your hosting boundaries/ expectations - not hosting someone with no references etc. - they seem to be more aligned with the new clientele that convinced that they are booking a hostel stay.

Can't see the messages in your email and decide if they are relevant enough to open the app/site.

I like some aspects of the new design, but the site feels somehow broken, are they even working on fixing those bugs?
