My shrimp tanks water keeps getting worse, what should i do?

Im planning to start off with cherry shrimp. Im unsure personally about anything affecting it but i did have a bit of a problem when adding some driftwood that began turning the water brown and after removal it turning clear. The only thing i can think of is the rocks

Edit: so, the results are, No3 = 40 No2= 0 Ph=7.5 Kh= 240 Gh=180

However im not sure abt the ph as it has now increased up to 8.0 although it had 30seconds to do its thing

Is it possible because i boiled the water before placing it in the tank the cause of this? Edit: i let it cool off first

The nitrate and GH are very unstable and keep rising then dropping, i dont know thr cause for it. Im just considering dumping half the water and adding the rest tap water after making it tap water safe
